I would think it would be worth asking the hotel, particularly if you could mention an equal rate you saw elsewhere (as far as being geographically with the group at least).

F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!
Hmmm.....
Why do you ask?
I'm all for the tiki bar as long as I'm not expected to sing.

I have no such expectations, Matt. That way, when it happens it'll be a pleasant surprise.
I'll sing Copacabana.

Um, no. I have a nice speaking voice, which cracks and jumps octaves like a pubescent teenager's when I try to sing anything. I can theoretically sing "I Second that Emotion" in falsetto and maintain a consistent pitch, but it wears my throat out badly— which really wouldn't be fair to my date.
I can sing - I fronted my own band have the recordings to prove it. I just won't sing.
Hey y'all. I've reactivated, mostly to keep up with this thread. Wanted to confirm that as meara stated above, the hotel did inform me that the Buffista block was sold out. She said she looked at both nights. I got a good rate anyway, actually a leetle better than the Buffista rate, by booking this early and giving up my ability to cancel the room. It's an Internet special, apparently, but you can get it over the phone. My card will be charged at some random point between now and the f2f.
Just wanted to clarify that.
Oh, and I looooooove me some karaoke.
Internet special, huh? Linky? (as I am lazy with the nillying...)
I'll sing Copacabana.
I've done that. At a karaoke soiree at a conference for work. I work with lawyers. It was okay, though, everyone was pretty hosed. The one other Angel fan and I had said to people that if they didn't pick a song, one would be selected for them from the Barry Manilow catalogue and someone had to show them that we meant it. It went fine. The disturbing thing about that night was that we were in this fairly grim cowboy bar, and we were next to a couple of tables of lovely young people. They started getting up, and one after another, they were all fantastic. I mean, really. It was quite intimidating for our group. So, later, I was up at the bar and chatting with one of the people from their group, and it turned out it was the university musical theatre group. Freaking ringers.
