I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

I agree with you sumi about TPoTD scene IRT Gimli.

One of my "yay!" moments was when Denethor was leading the funeral procession. He says "Gondor is lost" and we pan up to see one blossom on the white tree. I don't remember if that was in the theatrical version, but it was really neat.

I also liked the song they added for the Houses of Healing. Very haunting.

"Cameras in MiddleEarth" was the only extra I had time to watch since I rented it. This is always my favorite (serious) extra from all three movies (not including the easter eggs).

Art Crawl!!!

That white blossom wasn't in the Theatrical and I'm of two minds about it, because what Aragorn was waiting for, before he would be crowned was finding a sapling of the White Tree. Which he did, and then Elrond and Arwen arrived in Gondor and the Coronation and Wedding Happened. However, since in the movie, Aragorn clearly thinks that she is dead, I suppose that it is okay.

That song? That's the one that Liv Tyler sings!

Also, I did see the postcard for the Minas Morgul. And I want it. Yes, I do, but it costs $75.00 and it doesn't even come with a special cut of the movie told from the POV of Sauron and the Witch-King of Angmar!

One thing I'm curious about: When all of Rohan is camping, Aragorn has a dream in which he drops the evenstar pendant. Later in the movie when he confronts Sauron in the palantir and sees that Arwen is "dead" it appears he drops it out of his hand for real, but a few seconds before that it is securely fastened around his neck. Did he actually drop it or was he just recalling his dream?

Art Crawl!!!

Ummm, I don't know.

Do we ever see it after that? (Or, IOW, I MUST re-watch!)

No. The next time we see Aragorn he is riding to the black gate in his riding gear. The next clothes change is when he goes into see Frodo after the ring was destroyed and he's wearing a mandarin type collar. But in all the previous movies he's always worn it under his shirt. If we see it around his neck, it's usually because the collar of his shirt is open.

I just read this line from an email I received: "Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever."

I read it as "Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbits, whatever."

Hee!

She went into the back and everything -- she said they had FotR and TT ones, which strikes me as odd. Maybe I just shouldn't shop in Simi.

Apparently they're sold out of the RotK ones worldwide, so if you see one, grab it. They overestimated the ones they needed of the first two films, so there are some left over. (This is just what my DVD-mad colleague tells me, but he's a pretty reliable source).

brillig

My favorite added bit was the extra Eowyn footage on the battlefield, showing she can kick some serious ass. And Theoden saw her and recognized her! I think Theoden's death scene is a little different, too.

Managed to watch all of the first disc of appendices last night. Does it make me a wuss if I cry at a documentary? And by 'a' documantary, I do of course mean 'each and every' documentary.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Nooooo. I've cried in the last too. People keep saying the moment with Frodo is getting them every time.
