I skimmed the Newsweek review of the EE and they said that like the other EE's it makes a better movie than the theatrical release.
Well, we guessed it would, didn't we?

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".
A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

According to TORN, this article talks about a theatrical showing of the RotKEE in Norway.
Lucky Norway! I want a threatrical showing of RotKEE HERE!!!!!!!
But I'll settle for buying the DVD less than two weeks from now. Tell Newsweek all is forgiven for running a positive review this week.
I keep seeing that the RotKEE is running in random theatres here and there.
I mean, in order for them to do that -- doesn't it actually have to be a theatrical release?
Today, I'm obsessing over when my RotKEE might arrive. I realize that it won't even be released for over a week. Does that matter?
I see that my TTT was "shipping soon" on November 18th, i.e., the day it was released and that it arrived on Saturday. I only hope that the RotKEE will be as prompt. (To get this information I actually searched the old thread and then looked on lj to see whether I mentioned it's arrival.) I'm afraid that coming out during the Xmas shopping and shipping season may slow things down.
Also, people don't forget that if you bought the theatrical release AND the EE you can get a rebate. The information should be in your theatrical release dvd.
Where/how do you get the rebate? When you purchase? Does Amazon honor the rebate? Or do you have to write to New Line or sommat?
Umm, let me go get my theatrical release dvd and I'll tell you.
It's 5# back by mail for the EE adn $10.00 back by mail for the gift set.
The insert says: Look for Official Rebate Certificate in Special Extended Edition DVD, VHS and Gift Set. Offer expires 2/28/05. It requires the proof of purchase tab of each.
Hmmm, must see what that is.
Okay, on the back cover of my theatrical release there are three proof-of-purchase thingies above the ISBN.
I got my dvd, too. The proof of purchase is at the top right corner on the back of the dvd cover. You clip it and send it. I guess the EE will have something similar.
Okay, so it's mail-in. Still, that's $10 back. Thanks for the reminder!
