Kate, that is really one of my favorite moments in the book. It's such a wonderful demonstration of how Sam has evolved throughout the story, but stayed true to his essential self. He recognizes the beauty and takes heart in the smallest of things, and remains, as Gandalf calls him in an early draft of RotK, "Hope Unquenchable."

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".
Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".
A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.
I like that Legolas appears to have actual lines in the EE. I feel like he's had almost no real dialogue since TTT.
Some of his dialogue, though, is a drinking game with Gimli.

Eep. Having a Shanghai Noon flashback.

I have to wait until Christmas Eve for the EE, although that won't stop me from renting it.
But they didn't show any of that in the trailer -- I was talking about what he is saying in the PotD. That was him, wasn't it?

They did show bits of the drinking game, but no lines from it.
I meant -- that there wasn't dialogue heard, I did see the dreaded drinking game snippet.
OTOH: Houses of Healing!!! Crowned king! Merry offering service to Theoden!
Yay! Cannot WAIT.
This link was at TORN. It's a review of the EE and is said to be very spoilery. (I haven't read it - I'm of two minds as to how spoiled I want to be for it, you know?)
