Spike: We got a history, him and me. Fred: What? Spike: It was a long time ago. He was a young Watcher, fresh out of the academy when we crossed paths. It was a, what-you-call battle of wills and blood was spilled. Vendettas were sworn. It was a whole-- Fred: My God you're so full of crap. Spike: Yeah. Okay.

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

Oooh, I just watched the full six-minute RotKEE preview at the official site. I'm so psyched for this to come out in two weeks!! The Crossroads! "The King has his crown again!" Houses of Healing! BOROMIR!!!!! Ahem. Sorry for geeking out here. Holy shit, they've included Sam seeing the star in Mordor!!!!! Excuse me, I have to wipe off the drool of anticipation...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know TNT's "Drama is..." promos? They have a FotR one -- Ian, Sean Astin and PJ talk about drama in pretentious black and white before they cut to the trailer for Fellowship.

Actually, that promo came out last December, for the RotK theatrical release (I have it downloaded on my computer).

I had never seen it! Why did TNT tie their promos in with a theatrical release?

Anyway -- I've seen the extended preview, and it brought a tear or two to my eyes, a smile, and Lord, do I want to know what Dom said after hearing "Look how beautiful I am!"

I think that TNT ran it because they had already bought the rights to broadcast the whole trilogy, so they had motivation to try and ramp up its Oscar chances. I can't imagine them doing it for another movie series, though if The Godfather Part 4 came out, you never know!

It took about an hour for me to download that 6 minute trailer -- but it was totally worth it!!!

I can't wait!!!

There are scans of a great article by Empire Magazine here (scroll down a few entries to the thumbnails). It looks like it's probably a compilation of previous interviews over the past three years, but there are definitely some new quotes that I hadn't seen before.

Not to get your hopes too high, Susan--it looks like it might be just a flash of him, but it is new footage, and not a flashback, like Pippin's memory of his death .

Oh, and I just looked at the Amazon entry for the EE--Lawrence Makaore is listed as being on the cast commentary, along with the usual group!
