Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

Beverly, I know exactly what you mean. He has such a gorgeous, plaintive voice.

I think I need to go home and listen to all three soundtracks in a row tonight.

Giggling at the plush Frodo doll, although personally, I think I'd prefer a plush Gandalf (who is, incidentally, the only action figure of any kind that I own).

Please tell me they took it off for the performance.

Er ... would you prefer to live in blissful ignorance?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, my god. Then please tell me the people sitting behind him/her smacked him/her. Or offered some pointed comments.

I have no idea. We were up in one of the balconies, and the insane person was down on the main floor.

I also saw women wearing flowing I'm an Elf Princess, dammit! dresses without proper underpinnings. Now, I know for a fact that IaEPd dresses can look lovely on plus-size figures, but they NEED to be worn with a bra. Honest.

Oh, and then there were the giggly teen girls who had made themselves Hobbit feet by gluing curly fake hair on the tops of flip-flops. B for effort, C- for actual execution.

Yaaaaayyyyyy!

Damn, it's gonna be hard to wait until Dec. 25, though. But it's so close to Christmas that I can't really justify buying it for myself. Gah. I hope at least one of my friends will be less frugal than I am...

Art Crawl!!!

It's my Xmas present to myself!

It's only going to be hard for me to have the money -- given that it's on-sale the DAY BEFORE my payday.

Some of those new scenes make me wonder--"Eowyn's Dream?" "Merry's Simple Courage?" The first is probably that still we've seen of her lying on the couch/bed at Edoras with Aragorn sitting next to her. The second--who knows? I do hope that last shot is of Sam looking up at the only star he can see in Mordor; I've always loved that line in the book.

There's an article with excerpts from Sean Astin's new book here--the first mention I've seen of what exactly was paid to the actors.

Astin only got $250,000 for all three films? Damn--Jackson does know how to keep the budget low, doesn't he? To compare, I remember reading in his Rolling Stone interview that Astin got $300,000 for his role in 50 First Dates.
