A year and a half ago, I could have eviscerated him with my thoughts. Now I can barely hurt his feelings. Things used to be so much simpler.

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

Yes, indeed. Seeing it in a 3"x5" box on the computer monitor was nothing.

Now I wish I had access to my brother's big screen tv. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to deal with my 27".

Just watched dvd. It's actually a lot better than I remember it. I think that I just let little niggles overshadow my memory of the whole film. The CG looks better on a small screen aswell, dare I say it.

There are some interesting new facts to be found in the Entertainment Weekly special issue. First is that, according to Andrew Lesnie, there is enough material being added to the latter part of the Pelennor Fields battle sequence in the extended edition that they had to change the time of day Pippin finds Merry by using digital grading.

Not got a lot to say...

...that they had to change the time of day Pippin finds Merry by using digital grading.

Now that is funny.

My one big dissapointment with the extras is that there's no 10 minute preview of the extended cut like there was on previous theatrical editions.

Also, a warning for arachnophobes, the extras disk uses a nasty close up of Shelob as part of the animated transitions between screens.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

My parents asked me if I would like to watch "the new Ring movie, something about a Fellowship."

You've gotten to them, too, ita? HAVE YOU NO SHAME?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They seemed like such nice people. I had to share the gurlie elf love.

Pft. And to think I bought you a pirate flag.

It has a skull wearing a bandana over crossbones and reads, "Surrender the Booty."

I thought it would be lovely over your bed. But now I'll have to give it to someone who wouldn't brainwash my mommy.

They just had so much magic. I couldn't help myself.

Please don't punish me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Heh, Allyson. It was a little disconcerting when my folks came home and announced that they'd been to see Return and had some questions. These are the people who haven't been in a theater for, say, twenty years or so. They said, "It was kinda loud."

But I don't think ita got to them. I think they must have had their own magic.

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

Man, I'm still such a sap. I can't watch the end of ROTK without my allergies acting up. I still think the scene at the Grey Havens is perfect.

Also teared up a little during the coronation, when Aragorn said "My friends, no. You bow to no one". I think it's the distress in Aragorn's voice when he says "My friends" that does it for me.

The movements of the Eye didn't seem so comical on the small screen. It didn't seem to be a double-take with this viewing.

I've finally been able to see the end credits and the outstanding drawings. I never saw them in the theater because after three plus hours, I had to hit the restroom as soon as possible.
