Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"?
Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn.
Aragorn: I like "Strider."
Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".
A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.
Ack.
I just watched the Paid Commercial Announcement from New Line, and it made Into The West weepy again by playing over an RotK montage. Fuckers. The montage included a distraught Eomer on the battlefield -- I'm assuming that's
Gamling
and it'll be in the EE. However, I also noticed distraught armoured up Pippin clutching a wailing Merry -- was that from Pellinor Fields and not in the theatrical either? It wasn't the shot from Gondor.
Oh, I bet that's from
the Black Gate, where they learn Frodo's been captured.
Yes, that makes sense. That's what I most want to see back in.
Return of the King won four BAFTAs this evening, including Best Film. Huzzah!
Did I mention how much I love Stephen Fry? I love Stephen Fry.
That's what I most want to see back in.
Oh, me too, ita. It will help rectify the rampant stupidity of the military strategy there.
It will help rectify the rampant stupidity of the military strategy there.
It does have the most effects leaking over the movie -- moreso than Saruman's sudden disappearance. Going back too see RotK after I heard it had been filmed its absence screamed.
I want the two scenes mentioned above in the EE, too. Plus Merry swearing fealty to Theoden, which clip I've seen in "making of" shows and in trailers. Also, Angmar on the fell beast confronting Gandalf and Pippin on Shadowfax in the street in Minas Tirith. It was in the trailers, I didn't dream it.
Actually, ita, it's not
Gamling
Eomer's holding in the trailer, it's
Eowyn.
The Japanese trailer has more of the picture available, and the person is definitely identifiable there.
They also filmed Sam
ditching his pans,
and, if you remember the trailer, there's a shot with Frodo asleep and Sam looking up. I hope that that scene is where he
sees the star
.
Why did I think I read that we see Eomer
mourning Gamling? He does die, right?
Ah -- the Sam scene was shown being filmed in the special I saw.
I remember when the FotR theatrical came out, I'd seen all of the extra bits on it. Not so for TTT, but I'm pretty sure I'll have done it again for RotK.
How much longer is the EE of RotK going to be than the theatrical release?
