LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Was I the only one having a Hoth battle flashback during the fight against the big elephants, with riders of Rohan being the snowspeeders and the elephants the AT-ATs?

See above: "Did we learn nothing from the invasion of Hoth?"

I have reached high geekdom with this post. Somebody behold that.

That's a big geekdom. None of my friends has a geekdom that big.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Pfft.

Found (but haven't looked at) the Gimli/Legolas (no not like that!) clip that was on the National Geographic special but (thankfully) not in RotK. I really hope it pops up on the EE, though.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dudes, I called the AT-AT thing first in this thread, thankyewverramuch.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Just got back from my fifth viewing (now there's big geekery for you!).

Cry report: no tears at the Charge of the Gondorian Brigade or Gandalf's speech on death, and the tearducts held off until Sam said, "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you!" as opposed to kicking in as soon as Frodo was crawling up the mountain. Oh, and I joined the other women in my row (and the row in front of me) at the Grey Havens.

Crowd report: Lots of Legolas fangirls in the front (they cheered at the oliphaunt takedown, made some yipping sounds at his entrance to Frodo's sickroom, and cheered him in the closing credits) who were not so taken in by the Frodo/Sam storyline (they groaned at Sam's reappearance in Hobbitton). A pretty quiet crowd otherwise, who didn't really laugh out loud until "It's best if you don't say anything at all," but then got into it more. Shelob actually got some shrieks from the more squeamish as she dropped down to stab Frodo.

Little thing I noticed for the first time: the banner of Dol Amroth at the coronation! (Some really well-written fanfic has made me an Imrahil fan.)

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I spent part of my movie just looking at the =details= like the embroidery (the coverlet that Frodo wakes up under is white-work quilting with the white tree on it)

It's nice to know someone else is doing this. I've been freeze-framing anything with a decent shot of the Elven cloaks, trying to figure out the sett. My loom needs a workout, and I've already been thinking of what fibers to blend for best effect.

Thanks for all the fish.

Err, Anne, I'm sure that there may be copyright issues, but I can't see as how if you were to make some cloaks for friends and they chose to send you bits of paper as recompense that it could be in anyway wrong.
