I hate that Peter S. Beagle, who is such a good author, has never been financially successful. I do wonder how someone else got legal custody of his mother.
I still think his adaption of LOTR was better than Walsh's. I wish PJ had gotten Beagle, instead of his partner and Phillipa Boyens.
Anyone reading Anansi Boys? Dear god, I am LOVING it.
I am, and I am. I'm maybe 2/3 through. Very fun. I do think I liked American Gods more, though.
I'm maybe 2/3 of the way through, too. I may go back and re-read American Gods when I'm finished. I really liked
American Gods,
but it was also intellectually tough slogging, for me.
I fear my book budget only stretched to Thud! for new releases.
I am JEALOUS of you Anansi Boy havers, though.
It and Coraline are the only two books I've bought for myself in months. I love my library.
Waiting for the library to get SoUE 12 into their system rather than this "on order" crap, would be nice, though
I got it from the library, as I am NOT one of the Buffistas who eschew the library since they can't stand to give the books back.
Me, neither. I'd rather have broadband and Netflix.
I buy print media on a regular basis, but it's comics. Grown-up books have fallen by the wayside. Or are obtained at the crack den that is Half-Price Books.
I tried to sell my book group on
Anansi Boys
but they didn't go for it. If they don't pick it up for next time I'll go ahead and read it for myself. It sounds entertaining.
