We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

because my brother is an infectious disease specialist and he's doing some work with the staff at Vector, flying off to Siberia every few months. It's world-saving sort of stuff and I'm extremely chuffed.

Well, yeah! It is a strange coincidence.

Richard Price has a big Buffy and Angel shout-out in his latest, "Samaritan"(You know that means he watches, too, because people that don't don't know Angel.) I don't know why I bring that up, except to say "We're everywhere," or something.

You gonna share? In whitefont, at least? Or is it too long?

Hmm, on second thought, I think I have that in my to-read pile, so not necessary. But don't care if it gets spoiled.

If I only had a brain...

There's a shout-out in the current Suzanne Brockmann, too. (Which is otherwise eeeh.)

Punishingly Intricate

There is no shout-out in Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell which I have been reading for approximately the last 300 years.

(edited to fix title which you think I'd know by now...I keep wanting to call one of them Dr.)

Well, so far there are references scattered throughout the book to Main Character watching with his daughter. The cop does wonder if the tape labelled "Angel" might be porn, though, but she finds out it's not...must not have featured Tormented! Wesley.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Rules out "Reprise" too.

wrod. The scene was funny because the cop's like "This guy's stuff's too normal. There has to be a reason why someone would attack him. "So she sees the tape and wonders if he has a freaky porn collection.

Anyone get any books for Christmas? Here's my list. I've read the first 4 already.

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris
Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris
Undead and Unemployed by Mary Janice Davidson
Tales of the Slayer, Volume 3 by Various
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The English Assassin by Daniel Silva
Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction by Sue Townsend
The Logogryph by Thomas Wharton
Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong
Tales of theVampires Graphic Novel by Joss Whedon

The Charlaine Harris books were ok - the first wasn't so great but they got better. They are kind of Stephanie Plum-ish only with vampires and no Grandma Mazur.
