Don't belong. Dangerous, like you. Can't be controlled. Can't be trusted. Everyone could just go on without me and not have to worry. People could be what they wanted to be. Could be with the people they wanted. Live simple. No secrets.

We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

justkim, wasn't it fabulous? I found it totally absorbing and moving. I really loved both Henry and Clare, and their daughter too, and how self-possessed she was, and how easily she took to time-traveling herself.

Another social casualty...

I want to know what happened to Alba. I really want to know more about her story. How did she adjust when she got older? How did Clare adjust? Did Alba use any of the treatments they tried on Henry when she turned 18?

Such a beautiful book.

Always Anti-fascist!

That title blows. But so do mine. Just in a different way.

I'm kinda glad I was out of the States for the Earthsea debacle. Otherwise I would've watched it in some sort of masochistic, how-bad-can-it-be, I-know-they-hosed-Dune way, and then I would've had to start drinking.

I mean, I own the British version of the books with White!Ged on the front, and I'm still not over it.

Ah well, maybe they'll go for Left Hand of Darkness now, and make everybody white and throw the envoy into the wilderness with a female (and ONLY female) hottie companion.

And I realize that I've enjoyed Harry Potter fanfic far more than I enjoyed the last book, so now what? Do I pre-order? Do I bother wondering who's gonna kick the bucket, only to have her kill off Rita Skeeter or Dobby or something?

Bah.

OK, anyway, why I'm here - my adopted Marine reads Susan Douglas and has asked for books. I don't know what he's read and what he hasn't, so I was thinking I'd get something LIKE Susan Douglas, expand the playing field, you know? Amazon recommends Merceds Lackey - what do Buffistas recommend if you like Susan Douglas?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Borders sent me an e-mail reminding me I could pre-order it at 40%. Damned crack pushers.

Yeah, I always get mental whiplash looking for either Harry/Draco or Neville/Draco UST. And I keep muttering, "Yep, the twins are evil."

Of course, they might be.

I think I transmit this by contact now. I saw Harry Potter and the Horsey-Bird! with a couple friends who neither read fanfic nor are particulary going to look for homoerotica (ever, but certainly not in a kid's movie), and they each commented on the H/D HoYay.

I mean, there has to be SOME reason for Draco's existence.

Who is Susan Douglas? I looked on Amazon and it's coming up with womens studies stuff, nursing things, or Linux. Um.....

Do you mean the fantasy writer Sara Douglas? If so, I recommend Robin Hobb and Fiona McIntosh.
