We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm going to a Chuck Palahniuk reading tonight!

You know there'll be a urine test at the door to check your testosterone level, right?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wuh oh. I probably shouldn't watch Sex and the City before I go, huh.

Art Crawl!!!

Hey, one of the many library books I took out today is another multiple author mystery. This one is called I'd Kill for That and Chapter 10 is written by Jennifer Crusie.

And even if you're not a fan -- you should read it.

Very amusing stuff, P-C.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Re the O'Brian - it's also backshadowing (if such a word exists) of the hilarious bit in The Mauritius Command where Jack is convinced his daughters are retarded in some way.

Visilurking

Well, the only way that would work when the goal is to read the book the instant it comes out would be if I were lucky enough to be one of the first twenty or so people to put it on hold. Takes a lot of luck with anything popular.

I put holds on the new HPs on DW's library account and my own at the same time. That way we get the books at the same time, and marital bliss endures. Then we buy one at Costco when the craze dies down.

If I only had a brain...

Tomorrow is the U.S. release date for the new Terry Pratchett, Going Postal, (yea!) and the new Laurell K. Hamilton, Incubus Dreams (oog).
