I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Laurell K was fun at the beginning (if annoying in her bad spelling and she reuses phrases like Homer -- where was her copy editor?) but now, her characters are irritating.

I'll read the books because a) I don't have to pay for them, and b) like Tep, I have to know what happens, but I'm glad I read fast. Otherwise, eh.

Badly-written horror porn. There's some very, very good stuff to be found in that little sub-category, but Laurell K. Hamilton's works aren't it.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Badly-written horror porn

Well, that was the straw that broke the Anne Rice camelback for me. She wrote boring bondage porn.

I mean, try saying that out loud a few times. Every time you say it, it seems less possible.

Boring bondage porn.

I now I've said it before, but the demo chapter from her next Gentry book is AWFUL.

Awful porn.

AWFUL.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The early Anita Blake books, when they were more about raising the dead and less about raising male genitals, were pretty decent. The recent stuff tends to make me feel like I should wash my hands after reading it.

totally there with you. I just want to know what happens. I'm all about the paperback.

I'm all about the paperback.

As far as LKH and Anne Rice are concerned, I'm all about the paperback bought at a used bookstore or thrift store. I don't want to give them my money.

Herding cats for fun

Wrod, Ginger. Although I'm a member of the wants to find out what happened next camp, I think I already know what will happen to all LKH's characters: they'll service the ardeur and do a lot of killing. Le sigh. Too bad. I liked the "whipcrack adventure" early on.
