Just finished reading my mother's Da Vinci Code. It was ... well, it depends on how much crack he's on, really. A cursory web scan indicates "a fair amount." Is that true?
I kind of assumed it was peyote, personally....
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Seems a hot book. My mother was given it this Christmas by a cousin also reading it, and on my beach walks, it was the only book I saw being read more than once.
But ... it's condescending, and I don't know which facts are fake, and which are interesting.
Yup, it's a huge bestseller. I haven't read DVC, but I have Angels & Demons in my TBR pile. Scanning it, he looks a bit - well, odd.
Pulled over by the cops? Quick, hide your almanac!
I loved the Blind Assassin, I hope you enjoy it, erika. I received Sandman Book of Dreams and The Bitch in the House for Christmas. I also recieved a great many book gift certificates, so I have a huge order coming in soon, with a few Buffy books included.
I hope to, I'm kind of Atwood's Bitch, though.

It was the first Atwood I read, and I just loved it. Let me know what you think of it.
Did anyone get any books for christmas? My goodness, yes. Shadows Over Baker Street, which is a Sherlock Holmes/H.P. Lovecraft cross-over. Spirit in the Wire by Charles DeLint, and Low Red Moon by Caitlin R. Kiernan (which I'm looking forward to reading, but better do it before I start the new job, because Caitlin is very very good at making me so creeped out that I don't sleep).
Then, on the weekend, I went out and bought MORE books, because I kept finding ones I wanted. Including a new vampire fiction anthology called The Best of Dreams of Decadence (DoD apparently being a vampire fiction magazine); to my immense surprise, almost every story is good. I only bought it for the new Tanith Lee story, but now I'm going to need to check out the magazine.
I got books for my birthday; is that close enough?
Yeah, I'd say. sj, you should read more Atwood...she writes about women as if we matter. Even if "Cat's Eye" did remind me of an unfortunate friend from sixth grade.
