Xander: Just once I'd like to run into a cult of bunny worshippers. Anya: Great. Thank you very much for those nightmares.

We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

love's a dream you enter though I shake and shake and shake you

A very, very long time (probably close to two years) ago I sent my copy of Reading the Vampire Slayer out on a merry trip of the US so various Buffistas could read it. Can someone tell me where it is now? It was a fairly short list of people so I'm guessing it's vaguely near the end, and if it's sent back to the address I was using at the time, I'll never see it again.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Jen, synchronicity. I just got off the phone with Roz Kaveney, about two minutes ago. She's got the new edition coming out shortly, I believe.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

If she can't write the character honestly anymore, maybe she should kill him off or have him move to Mars.

who says she's not writing the character honestly? people change. relationships change. personally, i think that richard's got his head in his ass, and I hope that he'll get tired of the bullshit and come on out, but, just like in real life, he may not.

If I only had a brain...

Yeah, I love it too, Kristin. Bitterbitterbitterbitter.

That's the point, Vortex. Richard is unambiguously stupid and incompetent. Most people are a bit more complex than that.

Ha! You should come to my office for a while :)

Ooo, I love it when stuff like that happens.

I bought a copy of What Would Buffy Do?: The Vampire Slayer as Spiritual Guide yesterday. I've got some quibbles with the writing style so far (too many adverbs set my teeth on edge--it's not necessary to begin every declarative sentence with "clearly" or "interestingly") but the author knows her stuff and there's some really great analysis. I recommend.

So I gave I, Vampire another try this weekend. Nope, it's just not doing it for me. Off it goes to the giant pile of vampire books to be sold back to Half Price Books.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I re-read the Sonja Blue trilogy, and everytime I read it, I like it less.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Jen, I remember reading your copy of Reading the Vampire Slayer, and passing it on to Jon B. -- but that was at the *2002* F2F. After that I don't know.

Yep. The same thing happens to me.
