Katie, the "I lied" bit was precisely one of the bits I was handwaving. La la la. OT3!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Oh. My. God. Just saw the Smallville preview. It's like fic. Bad fic, at that.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That's not a new thing, though.

Art Crawl!!!

Ummm. . . there is a Smallville piece in the New York Times.

There is a spoiler in the first sentence, but it wasn't that big of one.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Jars: Very wise. Whee, handwaving!

Though I'm now kind of sad, because "our" SG-1 never got home, did they? Jack and Sam and Teal'c died in the first uprising, and Daniel spent the rest of his life with bizarro world versions of his friends, and that great shot of the four of them walking off across the desert from Part 1 really was the last ever shot of Our Team. Not that the folks we saw at the end aren't equivalent, and all, but still. Sniffle.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I just saw Moebius part 2! Downloaded it last night, watched most of it during breakfast and... uh, I did the whole closed door/headphone thing to finish the rest of it. I am a bad, bad worker-bee. I should be spanked.

Overall, I gotta say I loved this two-parter. It *felt* like our team, Dorkverse and all, you know? All of them out-together, off-world--wait a minute, not off-world but ehhh, whatever, it felt like one anyway. And there was snark and adventure and plot and good, vintage Jack. I liked the smooching, too, which was low-key and cute and not some big angstopaloozza, and the whole "but I'm attracted to Daniel!" bit and Jack thinking Daniel was gay (hee!) was priceless. Plus, fishing with the team!

I do share with Katie a pang for the idea of our team, our ORIGINAL team, marooned and killed like that. AU stories always make me a bit melancholy for the versions of the team that never make it home safe and sound, which is one of the reasons I love that plot device so much. And GOD, this whole thing is such a great fic fodder. We can enjoy the happy!together! team in the episode, while making the marooned-in-past versions suffer as much as we want (while having teh hot-monkey!sex.) And in the second part of the AU, Teal'c doesn't even have to die because he still has the symbiote. Yay!

Thrive to spite them

I haven't watched SG since it came back from hiatus, but I have to see this.

Do I need to see the rest of the eps or can I just watch those 2.

Jars - Feb 23, 2005 6:41:22 am PST #9863 of 10000

Katie, it would make me too sad to imagine our SG-1 either dead or trapped with weirdo versions of themselves, so I choose to ignore quantum physics and assume that as the timeline was changed, they never actually went back in time at all, and they came across a ZPM by magic accident. Yes, I realise this makes no sense, but it makes me happy, and that's all that matters. I just have to not think about it too much. Or at all. Plus, at least our team got to fishing together. With no fish. Which is something.

askye, the plot of Moebius is sort of related to Atlantis, so if you haven't been watching that, it might be a bit confusing. Stargate tends to be pretty good at excessive exposition anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard to follow, I don't think.

Hmm. You can watch just those two and have them make sense, but you will get somewhat spoiled for Reckoning and Threads.

Vonnie: Hee about the "off-world." I said exactly the same thing in my LJ post yesterday. And yes, there must be so much fic! Poor original!Daniel, man. His whole team killed, and then he's stuck with these other people who he's going to be recognizing out of the corner of his eye for the rest of his life, but they aren't really his friends, are they? *sniffle*

The smooching made me just about fall out of my chair laughing. Sparks! Explosions! Puddlejumper sex!

Jars: Hee. Also an option, yes.
