They did the "hit by lightning" thing for the Flash and he even looked at Clark like he was insane for asking about meteor rocks. If only the writers had realized that while the fans will appreciate you making fun of an over-used convention, going right back to it will make them even more annoyed.
As for the upcoming episode, I've been dreading it since I happened to see the title on TVtome. The whitefont here is not making me any happier.

Right -- pretty much in Flash continuity. The degree of small-pond/big-villain makes my head ache. "Real" Superman didn't have to depend on kryptonite for plot so desperately.
I can sort of fanwank the krypto-mutant-centric storylines as long as they're in Smallville and as long as I don't think about it too much. There's supposedly a lot of kryptonite there, so if they're gonna say it makes mutants, I guess it can make as many as they like.
If the show follows Clark to Metropolis U. and the krypto-mutants are still the main plot devices, I'll have more trouble with it.
The thinking about it too much is the problem.
In cheerier spoiler news, apparently
Lex gets split into two people.
Do you think that'll
square
the sexual tension possibilities?

I could swear I read a fanfic along these lines. I'll have to wait until I'm not at work to check, 'cause, NC-17. Still, I'll betcha it was better written than the episode will be.
Calli, I hope no one takes you up on that bet, for their sake. However, if they do? Bet large sums.

What I want to know is will it be a
Star Trek ripoff (good Lex/Bad Lex) or will it be a Buffy Ripoff.
What's the difference between the
Star Trek
and the
Buffy?
Assuming you mean
The Replacement,
here -- weren't they the same principle of
doubling bodies, splitting characteristics?
Which is what I think it's to be.
Now that you mention it, ita, you're right -
although agressive!Kirk seemed evil, it was still Kirk. Wow, memfaulting on TOS; that's new. What I meant was, are they going for straightforward good/evil, or will it be more like Trek/Buffy passive vs. agressive. Or, who knows, maybe it will be, sane/crazy.
I think there's a difference, primarily in intent. If the intent is to
split Lex into his good and evil instincts,
that has very different plot implications from
splitting him into...I don't know..scientist Lex and Businessman Lex.
I'm betting on
good and evil,
though
