Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, and the thigh holsters were in FULL effect. That certainly doesn't hurt.

And now I have. That was amusing. Some cute character bits, especially Jack offworld. But don't look too closely at the plot, like the Jaffa who could read and translate Ancient as easily as Daniel, and yet was apparently no more than a footsoldier. I wasn't entirely thrilled with the easy redemption of Harry Maybourne. I like him better when he's trouble.

But there wasn't any evidence that the Jaffa understood what he was looking at, beyond that it was in the language of the Ancients -- it was never translated. And that had been precisely the fear -- that they'd come and see it, and subject the planet to further scrutiny.

The constant repeats make it hard to be sure where one's left off in a particular through line, but I'd thought that Maybourne was redeemed in his previous episode. Am I remembering it too warmly?

I think you are, ita. In Paradise Lost, Harry scams Jack into getting him to this abandoned planet that he thinks is a Utopia, but the Goa'uld had been there before. At the end, Jack cuts Harry some slack (despite Harry having tried to kill him) and arranges for the Tok'ra to find him a safe place.

Mind you, that safe place was supposed to be a planet without a gate. Anyway, there really wasn't any redemption there. Jack was a real softy and did Harry a huge favor.

And about the Jaffa, just seeing a tablet with old writing on it -- why would they instantly go running around in the jungle looking for people? I mean, Harry was there for two years, and never thought to do that. It was a forced dilemma.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

But Jack! Offworld! Harry waving flowers at people! Guango! What can I say? I'm easy. (Except for bouncing hard off of Harry reading Ancient. The thing with the Jaffa didn't bother me at all, though you make a good point, but Harry? Since when?)

Katie -- what you said was what bothered me. I have no problem with Jaffa being able to tell it's Ancient, and scouring the area. But Harry actually READING it well enough to be 100% accurate in prophecies? That went too far.

Both of them bothered me, although what Katie liked, I liked too.

Goodness. Er. The Primer That Resulted From The Casting Spoiler has been linked further than I thought...

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Holy carp, Katie. You're famous!
