Yeah, that was my thought, too. I just... well, they ought to know better than to eff it up. I really hope.

I thought the whole direction of the show bit was interesting. They seem to want to milk this baby for all it's worth and then make up new shit to milk for as long as they can. And who can blame them? Pays the bills.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Once they start S9, they have the genre TV record, don't they? And I'd guess their costs are lower than the X-Files.

Huh. I'm wondering, if there was a genre TV stock market -- who'd have SG1 in their portfolio, and who'd have bought it early? Or picked it up for peanuts after Showtime ditched it.

Sumi, the ranking in the Air Force, which is the same as Army rankings, is: Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, General. Each General gets another star on her collar: the only five-star general is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

And apparently I forgot the levels of lieutenants. Ah, well.

Air Force ranking:

  • General of the Air Force
  • Air Force Chief of Staff
  • General
  • Lieutenant General
  • Major General
  • Brigadier General
  • Colonel
  • Lieutenant Colonel
  • Major
  • Captain
  • 1st Lieutenant
  • 2nd Lieutenant

eta: doesn't look like the Air Force has privates.

They have Airmen. And sergeants and such as NCOs.

Tech Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Master Sergeant as I recall from my Dad's service. Might've changed since then.

It's all spelled out on the page I linked to, as well as rankings in the rest of the military. Commissioned, NCOs, warrant officers, a bunch of stuff I don't actually understand.

Well there's a statement that's ripe for mis-interpretation...
