We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

It was physically embarrassing to watch Isabella Rossellini on TDS last week, so cheerfully shilling for the show. I wanted to take her aside and give her a talking to.

Oh, dear. I tried to watch. I got about three minutes in and my brain began to melt.

They call him Ged! ::weeps::

Maybe if I didn't know the original. Maybe if I hadn't just reread most of the series.

::shudder::

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Episode 10 of Spooks just appeared, if that helps.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Maybe if I didn't know the original.

I've never read the original. It wasn't any better.

Plus it has all those "Hey, it's that guy" moments because of all the Canadian actors. The toadying general is the guy who played Gerentex on Andromeda. And it was driving me nuts trying to figure out who the woman was that Ged was summoning, until I looked at IMDb and discovered it was Amanda Tapping.

Art Crawl!!!

Why did they decide that "Sparrowhawk" was better as his "true" name and "Ged" better as his call name?

It was a change that made no sense since they kept the "true" name concept.

It's like they just randomly changed whatever they wanted.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

There is also some kind of behind-the-scene special on Spooks that just came up on tv torrents. I'm downloading it along with 3.10. Somewhat frustratingly, the special is DL'ing a lot faster than the episode, which is slooooow as a snail's ass.

Yesterday, I watched 3.09 I'd downloaded earlier. I have to give it to them. They are not afraid of getting their characters' hands dirty.

Also, I think I know what's going to happen based on the combination of the teaser and an oblique comment in K.'s LJ. Damnit.

Vonnie, I haven't read any oblique comments, but I think something I read on the official boards is slanting my expectations. I'm more than halfway through, and it's TENSE. I mean, it'd be tense anyway, but this is ugly.

Arrgh. I'm only at 3.5%, and oh, right. I'm at work. Hopefully it'd finish DL'ing by the time I'm ready to go home.

Apparently, one of the things mentioned in Spooks special is that the actors playing Ruth and Harry are fashioning their performances as if these two are a bit in love with each other. And I saw quite a bit of that subtext in 3.09. I like that idea very much indeed.

Ooh, that subtext thing is interesting.

This is a good ep. I can't believe I have to go to work before I'm done watching it.
