Art Crawl!!!

A piece from the Salt Lake City Weekly bemoaning the state of genre tv and talking about the campaign to get Farscape back.

From the article:

Lo and behold, however, the geeks have prevailed: Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (Sci-Fi; premieres Sunday, Oct. 17), a four-hour two-part miniseries wrapping up the loose ends and possibly setting the stage for a regular-series comeback, exists only because of rabid, grassroots fan efforts.

Is a comeback even a remote possibility? My impression from some of the news on the miniseries is that this is definitely it.

I was surprised by the "comeback" mention myself.

I would be surpremely astonished if Farscape came back in a television format. Everything I hear is that Henson is looking for a way to continue the franchise, but that it's likely to be movies or something with the current cast.

Which is not to say there isn't room in that universe (Ben's quip about blowing up the galaxy notwithstanding) for other stories to be told about other people -- the Nebari, the Luxans, Peacekeeper rebels like Velorek all strike me as areas rich with narrative possibility. But I think the cast is probably ready to move on to other work.

This is me, reading between the lines. No inside information supports this.

Sumi, thanks for the link! I love it that the guy was bummed that SF.com didn't target him. Heee.

Hey! If there's a next time, I'm sure you'll remember him.

Shortly after it was cancelled, the rights to an animated version of Farscape were for sale. Or, um, something like that. I'm hazy on the details now, but there was definitely a Hollywood Reporter-ish blurb about an animated version. It could be that they're keeping that idea alive, although personally I hope not.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Hee!

Sunday, Oct. 17: Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (Sci-Fi, 7 p.m.) Part 1 of 2: Galactic war erupts between Scarrans and the Peacekeepers, who really ought to rethink that name. Meanwhile, wackiness erupts with John and Aeryn’s unborn child, Skeeter.

I totally want the kid to be named Skeeter. Hey, I know! It could be a capybara! Named Skeeter.

Hey, Strega, are you guys going to do recaps for Farscape?

What? What'd I say?
