I find that I like Weir's interactions with the others sometimes, but that doesn't make her an interesting character on her own. I liked the first Weir muchly - something the other actor brought to it worked for me. I feel kind of bad about it (not really; she's getting paid whether I like her or not). The actress seems competent in the role, it's just ... I almost wish I didn't have the first Weir for comparison. And, well, on a shallow note, new Weir's hair bugs me; the hair people have not done the job there. Almost bugs as much as Teyla's.
On another topic? Five days left. Whee!
I like the first actress better, too, Jen. Although this one has grown on me a bit. I don't mind her hair, either: if it's naturally curly and they're short on power/water, of course she'd let it go. But you're right that they really haven't made her that interesting: she's oddly passive, despite her position.

But it's TV roughing it. They need to find a suitably attractive letting-it-go look. (No, I don't actually care this much.)

Yes, this very thing. It's odd.
She doesn't get much screen time. She's General Hammond, and all the others get (the opportunity) to be decisive and cool. Which is wasteful.
Teyla is so damned feh. She's all concept and no character. I like Sheppard and Ford, but I don't know them. I think I knew SG1 by this point.
Also, deeply stupid. If you can make me nostalgic for the Prime Directive, you're not using all the neurons Darwin gave you.

Snerk, indeed. Stupid plots, requiring stupid people.
Spoiler from Comics Continuum:
SMALLVILLE UPDATE
Jane Seymour has signed a deal for a five-episode arc on The WB's Smallville.
Seymour will play Jason Teague's mother, Genevieve, a rich, powerful Metropolis socialite who may hold the key to Lana's mysterious tattoo.
The arc will be part of Smallville's fourth season.
And this:
In other Smallville news, TV Guide Online is reporting that Wednesday's episode will include a tribute to Christopher Reeve, the movie Superman and Smallville guest-star who died Sunday night.
The top spoiler is casting and plotty -- the bottom not so much and has to do with today's episode.
I'm not sure how I feel about spoiler 1.
The party mentioned in spoiler one works my last good nerve.
Is
Smallville
new tonight?
Yes it is.
