Okay, here's a Stargate question that has me baffled. What did they do with Daniel's stuff when he was dead? What about his apartment?

His apartment presumably was let go--he's not living in it in S7. (We see his house in Chimera. It's not as nice as the apartment.) All we ever hear about his stuff is from Jack in that one scene, where Daniel's all "um, I was dead and you kept all this stuff?" and Jack's all "well, we threw out a ton of junk." And then the line about keeping some of his personal things alive.

Fanon differs on how much was kept; I tend to assume that Jack kept a very limited amount of stuff that he thought Daniel would want Just In Case, because I am a big softy and it's not like the guy hadn't been dead before, you know?

On the other hand, I've got to assume they executed his will, so presumably all of the stuff that wasn't SGC-related, specifically bequeathed to someone, or snuck out the back door by Jack is gone.

And why on earth did they decorate the place like an exhibit room in the Met? Why did he have a piano? And when would he have had time to get all this stuff after coming back from Abydos?

(Though there is a piano-fanwank I like that says it's his grandfather's; we don't see it in the apartment he's in as of Fire and Water, I don't think, but it appears in The Light.)

There's a truly appalling series of stories where everyone in the SGC turns out to have wonderful musical talent (including Daniel on the piano) and they all have music nights. Teal'c plays the harp, or something. I think there's also pot involved.

Okay, after the zombies are done, you have to tell that story. Or at least a drabble.

There also seem to be a good deal of Bashir/O'Brien, which frankly makes me scratch my head, because Miles O'Brien--not exactly pinging my slash-o-meter. Plus, he's kind of...married, and seemingly devoted to his wife, at least so far.

I never thought of them as slashy, more comrades in arms/remnants of the empire mates. Also, dart buddies, and I so don't mean that in a porny (heh, typed pony first) way.

Yeah, I don't really get O'Brien slash either. There's my whole "but he's married!" block, among other things.

Rumor has it (or it may have been substantiated) that Paramount balked at the slashy goodness between Bashir and Garak and insisted that their scenes be limited, which is why you get more of Bashir and O'Brien's friendship later in the series.
