Isn't she just? Love. Her.

When I heard they were doing an Elektra movie, with Jennifer Garner as Elektra again, I realized that no way in hell were they going to do ELEKTRA ASSASSIN. And I started fantasy casting it, and I realized Browder would be a perfect for Garrett (just add cheesy mustache) and Claudia Black would be SUPERB as the older, deadlier, less human Elektra in that series.
Then I went off on a few tangents and imagined Keifer Sutherland as Perry (he's who I kept seeing when I was reading the comic).
sigh
Hollywood really should bend to my wishes.
hat Ben Browder can make anything sexy. Bless ya' Ben, bless ya'.
Word. The one that gets me is his delivery of ... "that you scent your hair." Oh, my. t fans self
I went on an incredible Stargate marathon yesterday, burning through a bunch of the episodes that had built up on the Tivo while my folks were visiting.
In conclusion: They do a lot of exposition on this show. Quiet!Jack is hot as hell ("The Fifth Race"). I like the consistency of how they've portrayed the Tok'Ra, as control-freaky people who really don't seem to have a clue about their purpose other than "beat the Goa'uld". The Jaffa turned rebel remarkably quickly, all things considered. Jacob/Selmac is much nicer than Jacob Carter was. Jonas Quinn is still boring (apologies to the Jonas apologists).
Dead!Daniel got about as much screen time as Live!Daniel did. Michael Shanks did a dead-on James Spader impersonation: it's almost seamless. I prefer show!Jack, he's much more engaging, but I suspect the movie I saw on cable was significantly edited -- weren't there scenes in the movie showing why Jack was willing to take a suicide mission? (Although Kurt Russell does have very blue eyes.)
I thought the show was inconsistent about how much of the host survives the goa'uld, but it looks more like the SGC learning more over time, rather than retcon. It could be retcon, but it's believable that what they learned in the beginning could be inaccurate.
How did Jolinar save Sam, though? I don't get it.
Christopher Judge did a nice mind-frell episode, but he's no Froon. Do all the cast members get to write or direct episodes?
And what the hell did they do to Sam's hair in S2? She looks like a Barbie doll. Also season 7 hair is scary, and she looks haggard. As does Jack, actually: was RDA sick, or did the picture in the attic get destroyed?
How did Jolinar save Sam, though? I don't get it.
Watching this episode re-confused me. Did it take more of the damage so she could live? Not sure.
Watching the S6 episode from this weekend, I wondered if the writers every paused while writing Jonas and put him in situations Daniel wouldn't get into, or got him out in ways Daniel couldn't. Doesn't really seem so, except for the one where he suggests lifting the stargate out of the center -- that did sound like the suggestion of a thoughtful newbie.
He was nice enough. Just not compelling, and not distinct. The show should have changed more with him in.
Do the rebel Jaffa have a name?
Quiet!Jack is hot as hell ("The Fifth Race").
Love that episode. RDA is usually not so great with the I Am Possessed, Robotic, Or Otherwise Alien thing--he does them all the same--but he did a fantastic job with Jack's loss of control in Fifth Race.
I suspect the movie I saw on cable was significantly edited -- weren't there scenes in the movie showing why Jack was willing to take a suicide mission?
Um, I don't think so; just the implication that he's suicidal at the beginning (sitting in the bedroom with the gun) and then telling Daniel later that no one should outlive their child. Honestly, I'm not even sure the "shot himself with Jack's gun" thing was established until the series, though I might be wrong about that.
How did Jolinar save Sam, though? I don't get it.
Well, there are a couple of options. Option One: Jolinar expended her last energy healing the damage done to Sam, and then died. Option Two: Later on, it's established that a symbiote dying in the host will release a toxin that kills the host. So one could argue that Jolinar somehow prevented herself from doing that, thus saving Sam's life.
Do all the cast members get to write or direct episodes?
Everyone but RDA (who's a producer, and not otherwise interested in other-side-of-the-camera stuff, apparently). MS directed, um, Double Jeopardy and wrote Resurrection from this year, which was directed by AT. CJ hasn't directed, I don't think, but he co-wrote The Warrior, and wrote Changeling and Birthright himself. Basically, he appears to have given up and decided that if he wants Teal'c to have lines he'll have to write them himself; he apparently seriously considered leaving the show after S4, and I wouldn't be surprised if letting him write was originally something they gave him to keep him onboard.
Also season 7 hair is scary, and she looks haggard.
I'm blaming it on the makeup. They seriously need to back off the eyeliner and weird beigey blush, because it's not doing her any favors.
As does Jack, actually: was RDA sick, or did the picture in the attic get destroyed?
Just tired, I'd guess; he's living in LA and flying up to Vancouver for four-day filming-fests every other week, or something like that.
Do the rebel Jaffa have a name?
Apparently not. You'd think they would've come up with something with an apostrophe by now, wouldn't you?
sitting in the bedroom with the gun
Yeah, they cut that. I thought as much, I was sure I'd seen it (possibly in a vid). There was almost no Jack characterization in the movie I saw, it must have been very heavily edited. There wasn't even any Skaara bonding, and I was sure I'd seen that at some point.
God, Daniel is hot all wet coming out of the ocean in that underwatery ep they're showing now. ETA: Yeah, that.
And Jack, hugging Sam and telling her they're going back for him...Gah. I need to get me one of those RDAs.
Jack is the best hugger ever.
Gah. I need to get me one of those RDAs.
Then you'd have your RDA of RDA?
