I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

This one, ita? I love that shot. So funny.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Except I'm not! Why don't people read the internet more? Then he'd know who was going to me on SG: Atlantis, and about RDA's reduced schedule. And not look at me kinda funny.

People are so inconsiderate.

Art Crawl!!!

They really are!

I know some of this stuff and I don't know one SG-1 episode from another.

(See, I don't even know what the abbreviation of the show is. . . )

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I'd forgotten how cringingly bad some of the first season eps were.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

IJS. Does everyone not have a boxed set?

Still, he e-mailed me a link to an SG1 screensaver, so I forgive him.

But still -- relatively little food per animal and etc

Emancipation's already aired, hasn't it? What are you watching?

I'd forgotten how cringingly bad some of the first season eps were.

For some reason, I'm noticing how overwrought the music can get. It's really distracting and funny. I'm onto the Nox ep now (Snyder!), and things seem to be settling down, musically, more or less. (ETA: Erm, OK, not entirely. But it's getting better)

ION, as I was driving along today, listening to a Graham Parsons tribute album (ETA: I specify only because I hadn't been doing it before I popped in this particular CD), and I suddenly realized that I was vidding in my brain. It was high-larious. And then I couldn't stop doing it, which was even funnier and also kinda creepy. I tell you, though, there's some Angel/Lindsey on that thar CD. Hmmmm ...

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

S1 is ripe with the cheese, but I like it anyway. The wacky headgear on the Land of the Light people and Principle Snyder in drag crack me up instead of making me cringe. Not much can salvage "Emancipation" though. Well, OK, I liked the rancid yak butter exchange. The latter half of S1 is actually pretty damn good.

The only other episodes I found unwatchable in the entire run of the show came from S7--namely "Space Race" and "Avenger 2.0" (oy). I watched "The Other Guys" (the first ep with Felger) couple of days ago, and was actually surprised at its non-awfulness. No episode with Jack spitting out, "You ended your sentence with a preposition! You bastard!" while writhing on the ground could be that bad.

Do you think Jack's IQ was lower in S7 because RDA didn't have enough time available for them to write him both Jack-funny and Jack-smart? I thought they wrote him very clumsily in the first half of the season -- he was never bringing the anything.

Now the humour's back, and it's something, but it's not all of Jack.

Oh, yeah, I still love it. Cheese and all. There are actually some beautifully done interactions, too, I think. Hell, I just teared up at the Blue Crystal ep, and I'm not ashamed (I guess that's S1; I'm just assuming they're doing this in season order again). Emancipation? I actually liked Daniel's reaction to Sam in the blue dress-thing. The music, though. I'm glad they got a better handle on that.

ETA: And the "First commandment ..." "Thou shalt have no other god before me?" Jack/Sam exchange from the Apocalypse Now ep. Love. That. (Ha! The ep is called First Commandment. I need to learn titles)
