By "meet cute" I meant the way that the pairing in a romantic comedy hate each other on sight, but you know they'll end up together. Not, you know, puppies-cute or Precious Moments cute. Perhaps "whimsical" is a strong word.
But still -- having a meaty sidekick takes away time from the main character, and runs the risk of Wesley Syndrome: the non-title character becomes more interesting than the title one. (Which, I suppose, would explain the existence of Nightwing having his own comic, huh?)

He left absolutely no impression on me as Norrington. I can't even call up what he looked like. Too much competition with the elf and the drunk for space in my brain.
I remember *really* loving him in The Talented Mr. Ripley, now that I think about it. I think it was his voice, damn it.

Robin also has his own comic. It's quite good, and one of my three must-reads.

Oh, I didn't realize they hadn't released all of S4. How many eps did they not release? It would be good marketing to release them in conjunction with the mini-series airing. Here's hoping. Selfishly, I hope Sci-Fi at least shows S4 right before the mini-series so I can be caught up. Memememe. Or I could get really organized and figure out where Sci-Fi is in the cycle of reruns and tape what I know I can't get on DVD. Or something.

Perhaps you also liked that his was the only character who wasn't a turd or having a really bad day. Until the end, at which point it was a REALLY bad day.

I don't think any of Batman's sidekicks/companions have become more interesting than him. Interesting enough for their own comics, sure. But not interesting.
Wasn't Tara underage when she was cavorting with Deathstroke? NSM with the even vaguely cute or whimsical kids, is DC.
