this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm having an easier and easier time mapping Wes to Dick (Robin I/Nightwing)

Uh-huh. Who brought this up first (albeit my comparison was to the animated Robin I)?? Huh? Say my name!

Ahem.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Dick Grayson discovered the batcave and convinced Batman to train him to be his partner.

Well, doesn't that depend upon which timeline you read? I mean, back in the original day, he was taken in and became Robin from day one.

Of course, alternate histories would explain why Dark Knight Strikes Back was so hated - having never followed any Dick Grayson comics I could be really amused by the ending to that series.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

You *must* get Batgirl: Year One.

You know, I almost bought this in the bookstore yesterday. I called Plei's phone to ask her opinion but didn't get an answer; so I passed it by. Oops.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Well, doesn't that depend upon which timeline you read? I mean, back in the original day, he was taken in and became Robin from day one.

Yes, this.

you can call me bob.

With all characters, the interesting-ness of them is where they go against character because it makes you wonder why and opens up the layers. If all characters were predictable - fiction would be boring. I wrote a short piece for a class that had a man with terrible teeth and bad breath but immaculately manicured fingernails. I didn't even notice it, that was just him in my mind. The class called me on it saying I had not kept the character true but our professor defended it with the points above. That was the best class I ever took - studying writing has added so much depth to my enjoyment of types of storytelling.

Comics canon makes my head go all hurty.

This would have been a great defence for Christ Carter: "Hey! Compared to comics, we're almost coherent."

Feh. Animated (moreTimthanDick) Robin remains unWeslike, but Nightwing's AWFULLY scruffy at the moment. IJS.

Comics canon makes my head go all hurty.

Yeah, my brain manages to make it through Pre/Post Crisis, but after that, it's all a mess.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Well, doesn't that depend upon which timeline you read? I mean, back in the original day, he was taken in and became Robin from day one.

I'm always Post-Crisis, unless specifically stated. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

but Nightwing's AWFULLY scruffy at the moment. IJS.

Heh. You reading "Outsiders" at the moment? You should.

Fine, fine. I'll add it to the crack bag.

Shit, this is worse than cigarettes in terms of cost.
