The thing I liked about Burke is that
he allowed Jack to be the straight man. (OK, not like that. Uhh, you know what I mean.) I love it when Jack does ultra-dry. ::happy sigh:: I recognized half way through that the actor was the beret-wearing goof from Just Shoot Me, which took me out of the moment wee bit. But I shrugged my shoulders and cheerfully soldiered on because, look! Jack I love! And recognize! And is competent!
The music cracked me up. There they were, in the midst of crazy gun battles with a zombie!terrorist in bandana to boot, and what is the action set to? Romantic guitar music! 'Cause we're in South America!
Is it wrong that I love him from Just Shoot Me?
Nah,
He was my favorite character on the show.
'Cause we're in South America!
In the jungles... of Peru... which look nothing at all like Vancouver, hey look it's a python!

No kidding!
Right after Daniel and the other guy busted out of the shed, they had just that little bit of latin guitar before the orchestral stuff kicked in, as if we were in a down-by-the-border western.

The pine trees were a dead giveaway...
Well, to be fair, I believe there are pine trees in Honduras.
HA! Turns out that the Honduran national tree is the pine. Teach me to be snarky.
I was sure Burke was going to turn out to be in cahoots with the kidnappers and turn on Jack. I was a little surprised that he turned out to be exactly what he seemed.
I can't remember if I noticed it when they were escaping, or when the zombie soldier came out with the gun, but it was totally, "Honduras, hmm... well, there's only one CD here marked 'south-of-Texas music', so let's stick that in." Cause otherwise, the audience might, what, forget?
Edit: I'm an editin' fool.
Me, too, quester. I kept expecting
him to turn on Jack. I was thinking maybe he was actually the ghost in the little tale he told, and he shot the other guy to cover it up.
I loved this ep. I love having new SG. Daniel with
the rock was adorable, and both of them with the thingie at the end was great. Well played.
I take it the identity of Anubis is will be a big, shocking reveal at some point?
I loved the scene where they found Daniel's wounded guide. That whole scene could have been right out of The Princess Bride.
