Exactly, Plei! I been looking at several fanfic sites (I'm currently obsessing, not sure why) and first saw it spelled differently. When I saw the Kelowna spelling, I nearly fell over. I mean, I'm from Kelowna! We're very peace-loving, really.

'Xactly! My cousin Cathy lives just outside of Kelowna (Winfield, I think). It's pretty mellow when it's not fire season.

Okay, granted, fire-season this year made it seem like Sokar's hell. But still, no bomb building! No warring with neighbours! (Except for the fact that we're better than them. Can't help it)

t off topic my parents have a timeshare in Winfield. Which they use as trade to go to Hawaii. Are there right now, as a matter of fact. t /office topic

Edit: Office topic? The hell? that would be t /off topic except apparently that tag doesn't close.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Dude, the mere fact that you have a fire-season...

Abby - Dec 03, 2003 11:27:55 am PST #2523 of 10000

Well, not so much a fire season, as such ... who am I kidding? Lots of trees, lots of heat, careless matches and lightening strikes. Fire away!

I had a co-op job one summer north of Kamloops, working for the Ministry of Forests. One weekend I had to maintain radio contact every 4 hours with a firefighting team. It was a strangely intimate experience, standing in my rental trailer, talking and joking with 3 guys fighting heat and dehydration. Pretty amazing. And I do regret that I never joined them in bar when they got back to town.

It's a remora, dimwit.

Egeria, mother of all Tokra is dead. Damn, does that suck. I guess now they have to capture more of those huge queen blobs and brainwash them into producing rebellious, socialistic offspring. - And did deriving a consumable from a huge bug-like creature remind anyone else of the "Futurama" episode where they discovered the origins of Slurm?

Dude, the mere fact that you have a fire-season...

This is one of the things that makes living here in Los Angeles so exciting.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You can tell by the, uh, animal spirits. You know, the jaguar. And the panther. And the wolf.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Oh, God, there's Jim-panther/Blair-wolf out there, isn't there?
