Burrell, do you mean the untypable name thing too? Or are you reacting to a different suggestion for the text?

I'm sorry, Maria. I was being pissier than I should have been.
And no, I won't hit you.
Whew! I'm glad, because Hecht's just told me they don't carry Dermablend anymore. :D
And being pissy is fine. I think most of us here have it down to an artform. I've been accused of it on occasion myself.
Thanks, Maria. Me, I have no issue with your username, and also enjoy the fact that we can call you Maria in conversation.
Thank you, Jesse. I like being called Maria in coversation too. It beats "you bitch" by a long shot...
Heh. But what I hope I got across was that I like that you have (a) an easily identifiable user name AND (b) a real name we can call you.
You did. My inner snarkiness decided to make an appearance.
Burrell, do you mean the untypable name thing too? Or are you reacting to a different suggestion for the text?
I'm fine with the "make your name typable" suggestion, I just keep bristling at the "Back on TT, we all used our real names, so you should too" stuff because it strikes me as kinda condescending.
Well, TT wanted people to use their real names -- but not everyone did.

That's not in the last text everyone liked, unless I missed a revision to what Ginger said.
Buffistas tend to choose user names that can be easily used in conversation. Sometimes they are people's real names or nicknames; sometimes they are the names they always wished their parents had the sense to give them. You may feel cosmically drawn to the name @$sd_myxp12, but "What @$sd_myxp12 said" does not fall trippingly off the fingers. To reduce confusion, please avoid the names of famous people, including ME writers, and the names of existing posters. For example, if your name is Tiffany and there is already a Tiffany on the board, pick a variation, whether it be TiffanyT or Breakfast.
Is there another text that's the problem?
Sorry, ita. I wasn't trying to revise the FAQ. I shoulda just kept me mouth shut.
No, ita, that's the text I'm responding to. And I think Ginger's text is fine phrasing, if necessary. I'm just generally uncomfortable with the concept. What is the line that's easy to use in conversation?
I shoulda just kept me mouth shut.
I'm not getting on your case for having (or voicing) the opinion, just worried that two people have a concern about something that may be posted and I can't see where.
It's hard to keep track of the latest version of anything in a thread, and I just want to make sure I'm on the same page.
