Sweet lumpy minion, you're the only one that understands. Probably 'cause I haven't sucked the brain out of you yet.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Did I skip something important from partner in Bureacracy agreement?

My eyes were really glazing as I just read about 250 posts at once!

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Okay, after further reflection, I think what I'm trying to say about social capital is this --

It's not just that there is no fixed value on it, but more importantly that if we tried to put a fixed value on it, by averaging together the relative values of each particular post among all Buffistas, that the actual value of a single unit of social capital would average out to zero, or as close to it as makes no nevermind.

That is just speculation on my part, but there it is.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm bugged by the cat-shaving. Because shaved cats can be some fugly animals.

Now I am sad because our very furry cat, Burrell, will quite likely need a haircut this summer in order to avoid killer hairballs, and then I will lose all my social capital with Robin.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I got called on it. If it all happened again? I'd still skewer Jen with less violent, but equally forceful words, and I bet it would have resulted in the same exit.

The upsetting thing, for me, was that I really did adore Jen, and then she said something that made me realize that we couldn't ever be friends at all.

It was a shitty day.

Did I skip something important from partner in Bureacracy agreement?

Oh -- sorry, I didn't give any context to what I quoted; it was in the context of explaining the warning thing ...

This actually points up the fact that we need this information to be accessible.

is what Jesse said.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's not just that there is no fixed value on it, but more importantly that if we tried to put a fixed value on it, by averaging together the relative values of each particular post among all Buffistas, that the actual value of a single unit of social capital would average out to zero, or as close to it as makes no nevermind.

Yeah, I kind of think somebody like Fay would come out better than zero.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know, surfing COMM made me realise that I was the one that said she should be Empress.

What was I thinking? What monster have I loosed into our world?

Much more on topic, I just googled this:

Defining social capital

Whereas physical capital refers to physical objects and human capital refers to the properties of individuals, social capital refers to connections among individuals ? social networks and the norms of reciprocity and trustworthiness that arise from them. In that sense social capital is closely related to what some have called ?civic virtue.? The difference is that ?social capital? calls attention to the fact that civic virtue is most powerful when embedded in a sense network of reciprocal social relations. A society of many virtuous but isolated individuals is not necessarily rich in social capital. (Putnam 2000: 19)

Social capital refers to the institutions, relationships, and norms that shape the quality and quantity of a society's social interactions... Social capital is not just the sum of the institutions which underpin a society ? it is the glue that holds them together. (The World Bank 1999)

Social capital consists of the stock of active connections among people: the trust, mutual understanding, and shared values and behaviors that bind the members of human networks and communities and make cooperative action possible. (Cohen and Prusak 2001: 4)

So can we finally put to rest the idea that Buffistas invented it or bred it or grow it and nurture it, but that it's not inherent in every single social interaction? That would be nice.

Or we can just call it gazebo. Either way.

What is even happening?

Go gazebo. Choose gazebo!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

The party attacks the gazebo...
