I mentioned the em-dash debate to my boss, and -- I shit you not -- we are changing our house style for 2003 to no spaces around the em-dash.
(Please note I have not done the same in my own use of the em-dash.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
We have no idea what's ultimately causing the error message, Am Chau. Hopefully I can pull a tech CSI today, inbetween meetings.
As a guideline, though, error messages and techlike problems with the board og in Buffistas Build A Better Board..
