The current Funding/Donations entry reads:

We would love financial support for a webhost, etc. If you would like to contribute some of your hard-earned money to the Phoenix Board, Jesse and Sophia Brooks are heading up the fundraising effort. Any amount is appreciated, none too small, none too big. E-mail donations@buffistas.org with your name, username and email, and they will e-mail you back with instructions about where to send a check. If you prefer to donate by PayPal, you can direct your donation to donations@buffistas.org.

Would it be too much, if we added to the Funding/Donations section of the FAQ, something along the lines of:

We also like free money. It's the best kind. We get it, and it costs you nothing. If you shop at Amazon.com, please consider using this link (and then provide a general link with the wobblymusic thingie) to get there. Thanks.

I've always felt we should have a link to "Help fund us" information right there on the left hand margine. But that's just me.

I feel eh about it. If we were in a money crunch and people weren't donating, I'd say go for it. But since we're reasonably okay for the moment, and if we end up needing to go dedicated we'll need a significant drive, then I kinda like it low-key. But I don't want it to be frustrating for people, either. So, eh.

This is how I feel, too. But there were some objections similar to Liese's to doing that, at least unless/until we needed to make a major push.

It's just frustrating the other way around too, though. We are linking (with credit - I don't know the term for this) to the Buffy DVDs, but I own that stuff. I think a general Amazon link makes more sense. We already have a funding/donations entry. What's un-low-key about including the general link there?

And since we don't need money right now, I don't think How To Donate needs to be any more prominent that that, for the time being. Every so often, people do make random donations anyway, which is great.

I've suggested a Buffiliates link on the left margin to raise a little dough, but it doesn't seem to be what the people want. Personally I think it's a win/win situation, but that's just me.

Okay, but since it's not what the people want, does anyone who does want a link on the left, think at least linking it in the FAQ to a general amazon page, rather than just the buffy stuffy is worth anything?

FWIW, if I'd known there was an Amazon buying/buffista supporting link, I'd have used it. I wish I'd known before now. So, that's a yes to Cindy's question, too ... plus, left margin seems good to me, because, easy to find.

An Amazon Buffista-funding link would be great, especially with Christmas/Hannukah/Winter Solstice shopping coming up.
