Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have a silly question, and you'll have to forgive me since I don't read this thread all the time, and I don't know all the ins and outs of voting but I'll bravely ask if 123 votes is considered representative of the board or quorum?

Yes. We decided (via voting) that 42 voters would make a vote valid. And I feel like I've heard recently that there were 180 posters in the past two months or something, just for comparison.

Up with the sun

I'll bravely ask if 123 votes is considered representative of the board or quorum?

When we were setting up voting, we had a vote (ha!) and decided 42 was the minimum number of votes for a valid election. Fewer than that, and the vote would not be considered representative.

On a practical level, it's probably about 2/3 of our regular users -- I think ita said 180 people had logged in during August.

Edit: X-post.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I'll bravely ask if 123 votes is considered representative of the board or quorum?

The minimum number of votes that are required for the vote to be official is 42. ita mentioned upthread a bit that we had about 200 unique posters post so far this month.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

OK-- I think I answered a question that Megan did not ask.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've heard recently that there were 180 posters in the past two months or something

180 was the count for the first two weeks. 206, IIRC, was the count up until Monday.

So 42 really is the meaning of life.

thanks everyone.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

DueSmallScape

I'd prefer FarSouthVille.

But I don't care, for reasons stated above.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Can I thank everyone who put the vote together, even though I'm rarely anywhere near this thread? It was a honker, and looks to have been amazingly tricky to word and organise. And thanks to DX for counting all that.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

SouthSmallScape

I confess to a loathing of this kind of verbiage. It's tinny, and I just don't wike it. Also, leaves out SG-1 and (I gather, but have not read myself) burgeoning discussion of Highlander. And you know and I know that other cancelled fannish shows, which are kept alive largely via fanfic, will show up in this combined thread, like Sentinel. It's a predictable and I think reasonably preferrable topic drift, and I cringe a little at trying to squash together all the possible titles.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I hate to even bring this up, but I can't find where we said if you need a majority of votes with a preference, or an overall majority of votes cast. That is to say, I'm not sure the combining Farscape/due South/Smallville threads vote did pass.

I know we voted for a majority, rather than a plurality (see here: Nilly "Sunnydale Press" Mar 9, 2003 1:04:42 am PST )

Option 1: An option which receives more than 50% of the vote wins: 57 votes (57%).

Option 2: Whichever option has the most votes wins: 43 votes (43 %).

But how do No Preference votes factor in?
