Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.
Current Stompy Feet: ita, Jon B, DXMachina, P.M. Marcontell, Liese S., amych
(otherwise it will look like there was a never a Previously on Buffy)
Note that the thread title is
Previously 1: The Who Whating How With Huh?"
and the description is
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run. And keep it spoiler-free so the Un-Americans can play too.
It's only the slug that mentions Buffy.
But I still think we should start fresh, since effectively the existing thread has always only been about Buffy.
Thanks for the hard work DX.
And R.I.P. Spoilage Lite: Angel. I, for one, will miss you. Rest In Peace.
And R.I.P. Spoilage Lite: Angel. I, for one, will miss you. Rest In Peace.
So it seems will a lot of people. It was a very close vote. There were two questions that only achieved plurality, 6 (Farscape/Due South/Smallville) and 11 (Angel Spoilers Lite).
However, and to the point, I'm sorry if my birthday/anniversary/ascension announcements caused problems to the board, and I'm happy to post/avoid posting/change posting in whatever way seems best for the board.
Nilly, I think we all agree your announcements are a good thing. The other issues were:
In other words, since we're trying to be more conservationist, we should cut out the one line posts when we can, and so should save our birthday salutations until we have something else to say
Not all of us Natter regularly, and some who don't were worried that if the one line birthday wishes (from us, not your announcements) were cut out, or combined in a big post, we might miss realizing it's someone's birthday. So the talk turned to whether or not it would be better if we asked you to announce the birthdays in a more well-read place. Then the talk turned to whether or not people would mind their birthdays being announced in a more well-read place.
By the way, am I on the calendar, Nilly?
Yup.
But I still think we should start fresh, since effectively the existing thread has always only been about Buffy.
Then will there be a need to name that "Previously on Angel"? With a new name, unconnected to the existing one?
We're looking, then, for names to:
- Due South/Smallville/Farscape
- PPO, Bitchy Fic and the Bitches' Anthology
- Previously on Angel
right?
[Edit: x-posted with Cindy. The thing is, after catching up on this thread, I still wasn't sure what's the best course of action, so I thought I'd better ask. But I'm absolutely fine with continuing with the way it's been so far]
Thanks to all for the hard work. I also favor closing the current previously and opening a new one specifically for Angel. It's the way I've envisioned it all along.
Yup.
I love it when Nilly gets slangy. I feel this warm rush of pride.
* PPO, Bitchy Fic and the Bitches' Anthology
I'm pretty sure that the consensus was that Bitchy Fic would stay for continuity purposes, so this will simply be a matter of closing PPO and Anthology, and just adjusting the slug for Bitchy Fic to reflect their inclusion.
We're looking, then, for names to:
* Due South/Smallville/Farscape
* Previously on Angel
Yup on the first, depends on what we do for the second.

I just want to make sure that you know that your announcements never caused problems.

* Due South/Smallville/Farscape
How about something along these lines:
"Due South/Smallville/Farscape--Why, yes, the slash is intentional"
Discussion of our favorite Mounties, Chicago cops, millionaires, aliens, astronauts. and the men who love them. Immortals, archaeologists, and Air Force types are also welcome.
