Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I agree Katie-- I think an announcement not to just keep the browser window open, refreshing every minute, and then leave for 12 hours might be the right thing to do.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

I have a slight problem - I have my refresh set to zero, and I only hit "read new". But I get lost with 50 posts per page - I tried it for two days and fetched up in tears, literally, in frustration. I missed at least four posts that were addressed to directly to me, and I hate that, because I feel as though I'm committing bad manners at people, when honestly, the posts got lost in the shuffle. And if I have to keep hitting "previous" to see if I've missed something, aren't I stressing the board anyway?

I had the posts-per-page at ten, and I've bumped it up to 25. But I'm only subscribed to five threads - is it OK if I leave it at 25?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Deb, I'm like you. I just can't focus when I have that many on the page. Twenty is about as high as I can go. So I'm setting my refresh to zero and only subscribing to the ones I always read and generally trying to concentrate on some of the other helpful stuff instead.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Oh, you're probably all balanced out by my insane need to have it set at 75 per page.

And I'm doing my part by mostly lurking until the cranky passes.

Oh, you're probably all balanced out by my insane need to have it set at 75 per page.

And I'm finding it easier to keep up with it set at 50 per page. Part of my desire to skip and skim comes from having to click so many times to get all the messages. 50 at one shot makes it easier for me. I am resisting the urge to post (not that I've been that prominent, really) more than I used to, though.

Of course it is. The idea is to do what you can.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You know, it's just a matter of finding what works for you. If 50 per page doesn't work, then just change the autorefresh and lay off the numberslutting. It's the cumulative effect of being conscious about it - nobody needs to do anything that's going to ruin the experience of being here. Try stuff out. Use what works.

Hec, I very systematically don't numberslut. I don't even do that in my own thread, in my own treehouse.

Just as long as the 25 per page is OK and not jamming things, 'tis cool. Autorefresh is off completely, and I always use as few clicks as possible to read things; I get less lost that way.

Thanks, all.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I feel really stupid. I've looked all over the Set Profile page and can't find a place to turn off autorefresh.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

It's not on the Set Profile page. It's at the bottom of the message center.
