hip deep in pie

But where would we put Firefly movie spoilers?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I (as a Farscape devotee) would not object to Farscape being combined with something else to create a sort of categorized TV thread (sci-fi, maybe) so that some of our threads become more general

Sean speaks for me here. I do think it would be feasible to consolidate the Smallville thread, Farscape, and Due South without much trauma. The Farscape thread is very low volume anyway, especially since the reruns have cut back to one per week and they're in the fourth season. Nobody seems to know what will happen when they hit the end, and if the show does come back it won't be at least for a year, I'm thinking.

Ann, that's a ferret.

And, much as I hate to mention it, do we need the Sang Sacre thread anymore? Nobody's posted there in more than a month.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Yeah, I agree with this.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Or, at least, we could possibly host Sang Sacre somewhere else.

The problem is, of course, that consolidating or eliminating low use threads doesn't do much for our technical problem. Though it may help a little, in that it may eliminate the occasional single SQL connection here or there.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I want LotR to keep its own thread because I don't want to get spoiled for movies I intend to get around to watching eventually (which is why I've never been in the movies thread) just to find the LotR discussion.

Nobody

But where would we put Firefly movie spoilers?

This is what I don't like about calling the FF spoilers thread a spoiler thread. If/when movie spoilers start appearing, and if they appear before the DVDs are released, we actually have no place to put them, unless we want to displace the Brits who don't want movie spoilage, or forbid them from talking about their full canon, until it's NAFDA safe.

One last time (exasperated at myself for continuing - not Sue or anyone here)

Change FF Spoilers to reflect the activity that goes on in it - namely, call it Firefly UK or Firefly Full Monty or something, and indicate in the slug that it's for all 16* episodes aired in the UK.

Keep NAFDA Firefly as is and continue indicating it's for all 13* episodes that have aired in US.

When the DVDs are released and have been out a reasonable amount of time, and assuming that happens pre-film, we can get rid of the UK and NAFDA designation, and have one, united FF thread.

Then - if ever a need arises for a FF movie spoiler thread, we create it if we need it. Joss has to not only write the movie, but cast it and sell it. We're hanging onto a spoilers thread that may have no movie spoilers for a year or more.

I need a dose of something. I'm clearly nuts and have issues.

eta - the * is to indicate, I actually have no idea of the correct number of episodes. The correct numbers may be 13 and 10, or 700 and 43.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

As one of the remaining occasional Farscape posters, I wholly agree that the thread can be rolled in with other Fantasy/Sci-Fi shows that are also getting lower volume posting (or lower volume posting for the show they are ostensibly for).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I do think it would be feasible to consolidate the Smallville thread, Farscape, and Due South without much trauma.

whimper

I mean, ok, yes, that makes sense. Even though I don't watch Smallville or Due South. What do you mean this isn't all about me?

OTOH, I wonder if combining those three subcommunities wouldn't generate more posts overall, since such a combined thread looks, to me, an awful lot like a General TV thread.

What if we did it and just didn't tell anyone other than the people who actually post there? That could totally work. Thread management through secrecy!

Er, yeah, being serious now, that's a good point. Once you turn it into "Fannish TV" or whatever it might well attract posters and posts that the individual topics don't attract now. Um. Backing off to the Buffy end of things:

Buffy Spoilers Lite can go. That should clearly show up in any consolidation proposal.

I haven't heard any objections to the idea of closing Buffy Quotables once the deathmatches are over.

We need Previously to discuss the Angel reruns. There's no logical reason that we can't just close the active Buffy topic and have all future Buffy conversation in Previously, but the idea makes me a little sad.

Spoilers is Buffy-and-Angel both, right? So that would just go on the way it is.
