I liked the "Upfront" language because it was specific. I was intending to add a sentence or two below the proposal explaining what the Upfronts were. But I can go either way.
I only take issue with that, if it is going to be a quibbling point, later on. In other words, if they ink DB, AD, and AA before the upfronts are announced, and don't ink JAR til the next day, do we have to spend the summer pretending JAR isn't coming back?

Ok, a little late here, and I think I get it, but if DB were leaving Angel because he was pregnant, we couuld talk about the circumstances of DB leaving, but NOT the plot devices used to make Angel leave in the how.

I just want it to be as exact as possible, with no room for arguing what does or doesn't fit. I think the earlier language does that better. But that's Jim's call, I guess.

So Jon, brenda -- if my hypothetical situation with the Angel cast, that everyone got their contracts in order before the upfronts, except JAR, and JAR's contract wasn't signed until the next day, would you want us to have to keep mum on JAR signing for the whole summer.
I mean, none of this made me stop and think when Kristen supplied the new language. But seeing these questions now, although I understand the need for specificity, will we end up specifying ourselves right back into the same corner of frustration?
Isn't the key here, that when the WB and FOX (or for other shows, network and studio) announce the series is renewed for another season, and releases who is in the main cast, we get to talk about that main cast, 4 weeks after the finale? (Or later, if the series is renewed later)
