I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

Whatever happens, it seems like some people are going to feel homeless for a while, at least. And that even after all the eps have aired, the Brits will want to discuss all the episodes, and that they'll have to do that in the spoiler thead. It would suit me best (and this is the course I'm following at the moment) if we moved Brit discussion to the spoiler thread, with a polite request not to spoil us (me) too badly until after 4th August, when the last unaired ep, 'Heart of Gold' is finally aired. We can then discuss 'Objects in Space' in the spoiler thread and/or the main thread, depending.

It's too short a time to require a whole new thread, but it's too long a time (and for those of us who are seeing the episodes for the first time, as a part of a whole which we're very excited, if a little bitter, about, a couple of weeks is a long time) to hold off discussion altogether.

I vote for discussion in the Spoiler thread, and ask people there to extend the same courtesy as has been given in the NAFDA thread. We may well end up moving most of the discussion back to the main thread, say when there are DVDs, and it's reasonable to feel that we're no longer spoiling Americans for the three episodes which weren't aired in the original, American run.

Personally, I'm anti-un-US aired eps in the main thread.

It does leave a bunch of people homeless, doesn't it?

Although we were going to wait until August to make such changes, I'm going to make a motion (and it doesn't have to result in a vote - call it a suggestion if you like - I don't care if this is resolved by consensus or vote)...

How about we close the Buffy Spoilers Lite thread (because can be no more Buffy lite spoilers), and open a Firefly Over UK Thread. There will be no net change in the number of threads, so the anti-proliferationistas shouldn't be too bothered.

Once Firefly is out on DVD and everyone has had a chance to see all of the episodes as Joss intended, we can merge into one big happy Firefly thread.

Yeah, it may seem silly to open what will amount to a temporary thread. But is it sillier than displacing one discussion or another, or stifling one discussion to protect one group or another? It isn't to me. YSillyMV.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I think the simplest solution is Brit discussion moving to Spoilers, and Spoiler-inhabitants exercising restraint and/or whitefont.

Restraint/whitefont is a tried-and-true method for increasing the greater glee and screaming of the unspoiled, and it's only 1-2 weeks total, and then the Firefly Spoilers thread will means Thems as has seen everything, and the main Firefly thread will mean Thems as is waiting for the DVDs. And then, when the DVDs come, and everyone has had fair opportunity to see everything, Firefly Spoilers will be redundant and can be retired. Yesno?

An interpersonal whitefont workaround seems to me much less administrative hoo-ha than creating a whole new thread, e.g. But it does rely on the participants having a vested interest in Fay coming in and boldfonting her shock and joy. Which I think is an easy interest to vest.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Fay does make the best vests, and they're comfy to wear.

What Nutty proposes works for me (but, obviously, I'm on Fay's side of this; I'm sort of assuming that people quite like reading my "Oh, wow, shiny! Isn't this wonderful?!!!1!!!" posts, which may not be correct); but I could live with Cindy's answer, if it was done *soon* (this week. Today. Tomorrow. Not long enough to take it to a proper vote).

I like the UK posts including yours Am. They make me remember loving it. I don't care about being spoiled for Firefly. I was just trying to propose something that didn't limit anyone. But I'm going to back out, because although I still read the threads, I seldom post in them.

Thanks for all the fish.

Something else to keep in mind is that Canadians will be getting the 3 unaired episodes on Space before the DVDs are released. Would we have to go to Spoilers to discuss? Are there other things being discussed in Spoilers? Movie news?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

There is currently nothing else being discussed in Spoilers other than the unaired-in-the-US episodes. I can't imagine that there would be any spoilery movie news before Xmas, but I'm not an expert on the speed of film production.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

ou know what strikes me - NAFDA was orignially North American oriented because the U.S. got the joy first. When Canada was an exception by only one day, Canada was given it's own thread to avoid spoiling people in the USA. But I think this was because of the "only one day" thing, plus Canadians are used to deferring to the U.S.

Bottom line. I think now that UK has gotten firefly and are getting ahead of USA on episodes, I think they ought to be able to discuss them in main firefly thread, and not have to go to spoilers. White fonting strikes as a reasonable compromise .

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't see white fonting as a compromise, mainly because it's too much the same as not whitefonting, for the volumes that will probably exist. It'll end up the same way for me ...

However, since all the cool kids (you know what I mean) will be watching the unaired eps, I have a feeling all the FF discussion will be wherever that is. So there wouldn't be anywhere for me to be anyway.
