Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Good. I misread or dismembered the IP issue, in that case. I'm happy to have done so.

With all the talk about cafepress and board funding issues, I was wondering why we don't have affiliate links for places like Amazon and Buy.com. With all the Buffy-related DVD purchases made by Buffistas (not to mention Farscape, Harry Potter, upcoming Firefly DVD etc.), it could probably raise a few bucks. Has this been discussed already?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

The links to Amazon merch in the FAQ currently use my personal affiliate id. If the commissions ever amount to anything significant (I think they've totalled 5 or 10 bucks thus far), I planned on shooting the money over to Jesse.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

As I recall, our budgets are very very much in the black, though Jesse could speak better to that point -- the discussion about cafepress has been more about their policies than about how much money we're looking to make.

Also, and I could be mistaken about this, I don't think you can use Amazon's "share the love" feature and an affiliate referral at the same time.

I didn't know there were links in the FAQ. Since I do a lot of Amazon purchases, I'll try and do them through your links from now on.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Could someone please fix Nutty's thing about Eowyn and whitefont it??? PLEASE.

In Natter.

Nevermind.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Okay, what's the story here? I mean, I don't want to step on Aimee's toes, and I do understand the greater glee and screaming that may occur when non-readers get to the theatre next fall. But we did discuss it a bit in the Dude, Where's My precious thread, and consensus there was that the Tolkien books do not need whitefont. The books have been in publication 40+ years, and are not reliable predictors of what will show up onscreen.

Moreover, I'm trying to discuss Tolkien specifically as a writer, in context with C. S. Lewis, writing women, visions of Christianity comign through in plotting, etc. It's going to be really hard to have that conversation grow in Natter if we have to whitefont everything.

It's no prob, really I haven't read the books on purpose (was asked to wait until I saw all 3 films) and I've been staying out of Dude, but no big!! I'll hang in Bitches for awhile. I haven't read either author, so I couldn't contribute anyway!! :)

brillig

I thought the consensus in Precious was to whitefont what happens in the books out of courtesy--and, at least on my part, enjoying the innocence of the unspoiled.
