Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

There's an unclosed bold tag up in Press. Right here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They're not going to refund us the money, though, Gar.

So I don't even want to go through the empty motions.

Up with the sun

Cautionary letter to the BBB and word of mouth if anyone should ask and moving on, now we're free, is spending the least amount of energy on HR, and more than I think they deserve

This is where I am, too. I think any major campaign is a lot of energy that we don't need to expend.

Alright, fair enough. I'm just going to have to live with the fact that I'm more spiteful and revenge oriented than your average (or apparently any) buffista. I just tend to believe that sometimes revenge is the best revenge.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I just tend to believe that sometimes revenge is the best revenge.

Revenge would be taking down Hostrocket. Revenge is not getting their lawyers to show up at the Hoboken small claims court so we can get our $500.

Visilurking

I just don't feel the rewards of "being right" outweigh the peace of mind at being free of the unpleasantness.

A lesson a lot of us have learned right here. ;)

I think Allyson's letter is a good idea. Also, was the account paid by credit card? Because a chargeback is usually a pretty powerful way to resolve disputes, and the fact that there was no service for several weeks means you get a refund. There's no other way to look at it.

As far as I can tell, Gar, it wouldn't have any effect on them, so it's not a useful outlet for any energy. Sure, I'd give karma their address if it came looking to take a dump on someone's head, but asking for money back -- soundly ignored, I bet. Small claims court? More hassle for us than them.

BBB and general word of mouth will have MORE effect than either of those, I think. At least, better on the effort/reward ratio.

Like I said, I'm backing off. Especially since you took most of the shit on this for us.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'd have to agree that we've already gone through enough heartache and frustration due to HostRocket—best to enjoy being free of them rather than asking for more.

The letter to the BBB seems like the best group/official action to take. I would recommend speaking up about the difficulties on an individual basis anytime one of us hears about people searching for ISPs though... warning them of potential difficulties in advance would be doing them a favor.
