Seriously. I don't feel I do enough, participate enough, do the influence for good enough. In real life, I do a lot of nodding and back-patting, not a lot of talking. It can be difficult to remember that online, no one can see you nod.

When I counted votes, I would guess there were 4 or 5 names I didn't know, though I could go back and check that.

I actually think you can, kind of. I mean, when you post, Beverly, it's clear that you've been paying attention to other people, and care about the community. When people meara, even if they're just saying "Uh huh," or "YAY" or whatever, it's a clear demonstration that they are paying attention. Not that people who don't do that aren't paying attention, but you know what I mean?

I'm sure there are other online communities that are -- what? Quirky? Intelligent? Funny? Erudite? Articulate? Hmmmm, heading into maybe-not land there. But we're all that and a wrodload of chips.

It should be a reflection of my true devotion to this community that I accept 42 as The Will of The People, if an imperfect number.
Does it reflect badly on my sci-fi knowledge that I only just realised that We The Buffistas picked the answer to life, the universe, and everything as our One True Number?
FWIW, I have a deep and abiding respect and appreciation for Beverly, and recently realized that I don't think I've ever told her that. Now seems like a good time.
