It is beautiful and 70 here today! Crazy when it was 28 when I woke up a couple days ago.
I have an odd thing happening behind my place here. Someone must have diverted the water flow somewhere because I have water where I never had water in the last 20 years. This after a summer of draught, when in super wet summers it didn't occur there. I could probably kayak to the lake as it goes to the inlet. I have to go Monday and talk to the conservation department because it shouldn't be happening. My biggest concern is that it is bordering where my septic field is so that isn't good. I have the engineering report from a couple years ago when they did the septic so that should show where the actual wetlands should be. If they have a big snow year (as expected) it could be a real issue in the spring.
Otherwise, nice day. My nephew is coming over to do stuff to my car and my son's to prep for the drive back. Son has done absolutely nothing to prepare. Niece is making fettuccini alfredo later then we are going to the movies. I'm not bothering to invite son to either as he will just want to stay on his computer game all day and night. Seriously, how does a 33 year old spend 16+ hours a day on games. I'll never understand.
I was in the mass of people for the rally in Chicago yesterday, but I also had tickets to a matinee so we didn't join the marching activities. I could see the march continuing on Wacker Drive when I stepped outside during intermission though.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was lovely. My eldest grandnephew has pool noodles with handles attached and has discovered “sword” fighting, so I’m teaching him Princess
Bride quotes. I received a Lego orchid kit and homemade cards with genuine grandnibbling artwork. A good time was had by all.
Pout. My NYT games seem to be broken this morning. I can log into my main NYT page, but the games go in as not logged in.
Oh yeah, I just noticed it’s not showing any stats. Something must be up.
Same, Brenda. The app is working, but I don't have stats.
Amazon Web Services is/was down - not sure if it has been fixed - and that took a bunch of places down.
I assume the NYT Games outage is AWS' fault and will recover when the rest of the internet does.
(I have no inside information on the outage because, thankfully, I am not part of the team that had to wake up and go to work at midnight on a Sunday because their thing broke the entire internet. People in Books get to sleep on the weekends.)

Ah yes, my doctors are telling me that they can't prescribe controlled substances because of the AWS issue.
eta: but clearly the Wordle and other puzzle streaks are far more important!
I have been able to get to all my games by now, hope y'all can too. The outage does not appear to have affected my work connections so far, no idea whether/how much we might depend on AWS...From what I hear East Coast is more directly affected, so best wishes to y'all
