I found a news story and looked at a map and the area of concern is a mile away. I'm gonna go ahead and stay well inside for the rest of the day, but that doesn't seem all that close

Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It's someone barricaded in a building vs a SWAT team, from what I can find
This is not the kind of excitement I look for. If I even look for excitement which mostly I do not.
Just got the all clear. Whew
Yikes, -t -- glad you're OK.
I'm slightly nervous about going out to wait for the bus, but I'm pretty sure that's irrational. The bus stop, the transit station where I transfer, and the actual bus routes are all far from the area that was under warning and that is apparently lifted, so everything should be fine.
Tomorrow our summer outlet sale starts and I'll be working a cash register (although I think we only take credit cards, so I guess I should just call it a register? Does that convey enough meaning?) at our other location closer to my house. That was plenty of novelty for the week!
Sometimes I'd like a surprise, but not like that!
I guess I should just call it a register?
It's common to call it a P.O.S.
Oh, that would definitely confuse me. I work with POS data all the time and use the term frequently to mean that stuff. These sales are only once or twice a year, I can be old fashioned and potentially obscure while I’m working at them without too much disruption, I guess.
YAY NORMAL! I got a mammogram last week, and it, too, was NORMAL. I still have to get the ultrasound in the fall because dense tissue, but all looks good for now.
Dudes, I was at yearbook camp with six of my staffers this week, and I am TIRED. Teacher!me had to poke her head up out of her cozy summer den and be professional and wrangle teenagers. These six girls are lovely humans, and they weren't a problem at all, but I did have to deal with navigational issues (usually meticulously planned me ended up taking them to the WRONG SAN DIEGO UNIVERSITY — I somehow missed there are three of them) and once we got to the right place, there were BED BUGS in one of the girls' rooms, which led to all kinds of shenanigans, as you can imagine.
They did amazing work on this year's theme package, and I'm very glad I came. I am also very glad I get to go home tomorrow and not be a teacher for a few more weeks.
Yay for more normal!
It's farmers market morning, and I'm going to visit my aunt who just had a Mohs thing on her lower eyelid (only one "round" of cutting, which is great -- had reconstructive surgery the same day!)
In between, I do job hunting stuff. And the laundry I did not do yesterday, oops.
