Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place.
Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Hello lovely people, I somehow haven't been on the board in over a week?!?!
Shir, I continue to think of you and Nilly and hope you stay safe.
I am working from home today, but officially I am now meant to be in-office 5 days a week. All of the NY-based people in my org have been moved into a new office to make room for RTO5, and the new office, bluntly, sucks balls. Rumor is that it's a short-term lease only and we'll all be moving again in 2 years but UGH.
Both kids graduated from their respective schools last week, leaving me with one each college and high school freshmen. And Dylan is officially An Adult! Whaaaaat???
NYC is supposed to be a balmy 96F today, slightly down from yesterday's high of The Literal Surface Of The Fucking Sun. When I got in my car after work yesterday the temp reading was 110 outside.

Ugh!
Congrats to Dylan and Aeryn for leveling up!
Boo on the crappy in-office-ness.
I got up at 8 and took my niece Crystal out for coffee and a walk in the Panhandle.
Now we're headed to breakfast at Zazie.
I do hate losing vernal pools. One of my favorite city planning things is when they put parks in areas that flood now and then instead of building things that need to be fixed or replaced after every major weather event.
I just broke out the pressure washer and pressure washed my patio! Went a little crazy on the steps trying to get rid of the moss/mildew/whatever that green film is and blasted off a lot of the paint too, but oh well.
Trying to decide if that’s enough for the night or if I need to go buy things at Safeway. Maybe I’ll split the difference and buy some Trader Joe’s things.
Hey SF-istas! Mr. Loomycakes and I are going to be in SF July 18-21 so we* can go to the MCR show at Oracle Park on the 19th. We need advice on where to stay! And, of course, we want to see you peeps!
- Okay, so I can go to the MCR show and Mr. Loomycakes will tag along.
Farmers' market talk here got me up and out to ours this morning. Tomatoes, sweet cherries, plums, apples (Ever crisp, I think), corn for tonight, and a sourdough boule + a small SD jalapeño/cheddar one for DH.
I should really plan a meal or two next week before I go so I can buy strategically; I'm not great at "Oh, they have X, so I will make Y!"
Awful quiet round these parts…I was having internet issues this morning and since I just replaced my wifi a couple months ago decided to rush order a new cable modem. The internet promptly returned to normal. Oh well.
Well, that was an adventure.
Got a call from Matilda at 1:15 that her boyfriend, Anuar, was having tremendous pain from his wisdom teeth, couldn't close his mouth and couldn't eat.
So I called around to find an oral surgeon that could take him today. The second place I called said, "Can you bring him in right now? Like, within the half hour?"
Yes. If run around like a maniac, gathering Matilda up, collecting Anuar, driving downtown, dropping them off at the office while I tried to find any open parking in the Financial District.
By 2:15 we were in their office, he was filling out their forms. I paid the tab, left Matilda there to Uber him home and he's going to be four wisdom teeth lighter. When the office saw that he didn't have insurance they waived the consult fee, and the checkup fee. That was nice.
And I'm back home two hours after she called me.
That sounds exhausting, Hec! Also, sending extra love and hugs to you and Matilda today.
Yesterday my travels took me driving, very slowly, through Atlanta so I had lots of time to think of Ginger. I always smile when I remember the gasps when we were there for the F2F and saw the delightful comfy library in her home.
I'm in Ohio. Tired. The trip has been miserable, but my cousins are awesome, so I will focus on that today.
