Our wings are not tired.

First off, not a "guy," a literal demon in a suicide blonde Marsters wrapper. But some of us do love him for...reasons. The logical thing would have been for Buffy to come back to the Sunset Club at the end of _Lie to Me_ with a flame thrower (or, ya know, lots of weapons) to try and and take out the threat of Spike/Dru/their posse, but clearly the character was already too beloved at that point to take out.

Yeah, logic didn't have a lot to do with Spike's appeal. A bunch of us just liked it when he was on the screen. He certainly generated a lot of discussion too. The character had some delightful dialogue.

eta: such fun to not spoil a new viewer

Happy Birthday Gud!

Hi Jake!

Thanks to vacation and the long holiday weekend I'm at work for the first time since the 17th, and trying to fight off a case of the Don't Wannas. I did get the two most urgent things on my docket to a point where I have to wait for other people's input. But weirdly, watching the clock hasn't made them drop whatever they're doing to get back to me immediately. What's up with that?

I'm a fucking amazing catch!--Fiona Gallagher, Shameless(US)

I keep looking at expensive clothes and forgetting how much stuff I have I don't wear already and that my "look" is Campaign Swag. I have nothing to wear them to, either. But maybe I wish I were that woman instead of this one.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

As the aforementioned "J", I do want to clarify that I don't hate Spike. Heck, by the end of season 2, he was a stand-up guy.

Nah, you’ve just got his number.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday Gud!

Well, things continue to be shitty here. Mr. S had another meltdown at school. He trashed a room and tried to stab a teacher with a pencil, so he's been suspended for the rest of the week. I don't know what to do....

On top of that, my mom's back in the hospital. She was supposed to have a biopsy done on something in her bladder, but her blood pressure was too low. Tells you how frazzled I am, I haven't had to spoons to worry about it.

Oh Sheryl, I really wish there were some magic solution for Mr. S. My heart breaks for your family. Sending health~ma for your mom.

In other news, I went to book club tonight and left Tilly home alone for the first time, for over two hours. Big risk.

However there is no evidence that she did anything other than sleep on the futon, which is great.

A question that came up during book club: If you were to walk down the beach with a pile of books to give people (this is a thing that Oprah did recently), what book would it be?

Answers from my book club: Jane Eyre, The Thief (by Megan Whalen Turner), Pride & Prejudice, The Game of Kings (by Dunnett), Sword at Sunset (by Rosemary Sutcliff), Crime & Punishment, and Lessons in Chemistry.

What book would you force on random people if you could?

Ooh interesting idea Connie! I’d have to think about that one…if Oprah personally gives you a book you kinda have to read it, don’t you?

Made it back home around 530 with dog and made it to dancing which was good after all day in the car (half of that working, thanks to the hotspot that came with my friends’ Rivian!)
