You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

So good to see you, Cash, and hear news of the family. Agree about the timeline, of course. I'm glad your DH found something, and I hope he's doing OK in Richmond. That is... not an easy commute for either of you.

Our wings are not tired.

Have a blissful vacation, Consuela!

Crazy to think of Robin and Oliver being in college. My own kids being in their 30s is one thing, but it is shocking to see these little kids aren't so little anymore.

Richmond is a pretty area geographically. It was rough politically when I lived there, but my understanding is that it is much more progressive now.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I can’t believe Robin and Oliver are so grown up! Will you be moving to VA, Cash?

This is the first day of summer vacation that ltc and I were home alone together. We watched some tv, but she’s quickly running out of age appropriate geeky shows to watch, read a bit, and made French toast for lunch. And I made her help me with some chores. Now she’s out with her grandparents for a couple of hours.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm hoping that if I make a post grumbling about this, it'll be resolved:

My second carpal tunnel surgery is tomorrow. The surgical center has this weird policy where the patient is scheduled for a surgery date like a month out, but NOT a surgery time. They wait until the day before the scheduled surgery to call the patients and tell them what time the surgery will be. This is the weirdest fucking thing ever. I didn't like it with my right hand and I don't like it with my left hand.

Anyway, it's 1:35 the day before my alleged surgery and they haven't called me yet, and I'm getting twitchy about it. Just let me know what time to be there, you weirdos!

Ugh, I hate that kind of thing. May they call you soon.

I'm going to my first Childless Cat Ladies thing tonight, and that's going to be CCL from now on, because that's how we roll. It's a workshop about how to engage in "effective conversation in a polarized world." TBH, I fear the time for conversation has long since passed. Well, for some time now, actually. But. I'm going. Hope looms eternal, I guess.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Thanks for the update, Cash. I'm so happy for the good trendlines with work and school, and I also have issues with this timeline.

Tep, that's fucking stupid.

We're alternating between cold and overcast and sunny yet cool days, and frankly it's been a little early for the fog to move in on the summertime. (Usually it's a late July/August thing.) Anyway, blue skies for Wednesday. Because I know you want a SF weather report every damn day!

My niece, Crystal, is coming out next Tuesday for a week's visit. Looking forward to having her here over my birthday week.

Okay, it took them over a fucking hour to call me, but it's scheduled for noon, which is kind of awesome, since my first one was like 7:30 a.m. Now I can sleep until a reasonable hour, have a leisurely breakfast, and go get my hand fixed.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Yay, Tep!

It's a workshop about how to engage in "effective conversation in a polarized world."

I was thinking I read something like this recently. It was yesterday. On your FB. It sounds cool if I didn't say so there.

Hope looms eternal, I guess.

Indeed.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

So, Tim has a weird lump on his neck that showed up in April. When it didn’t go away, his primary-care doctor had him get a CT scan, and the CT scan conclusion was “Yes, that sure is a lump.” Based on the density and size of the lump, it could just be inflammation of a lymph node from an infection or from his rheumatoid arthritis, or it could be a necrotic lymph node (which is apparently not as horrible as it sounds), or it could be a weird benign cyst like a sebaceous cyst, or it could be a lump of doom. It’s exceedingly likely to be just a benign weird thing, but we don’t know. He has an appointment with an ENT tomorrow, who might poke it once, say “Yup, benign weird thing,” and send him on his way, or the ENT might have the lump biopsied.

Anyway, I am tired of Tim having medical issues and am asking for all the lump~ma for a benign weird lump. (“Benign and weird” really is his personal brand.)

I'm hardly thinking about my carpal tunnel surgery. Mostly I’m trying and failing to not obsess about Tim’s weird lump. Humans do get lumpier as we get older, that's for sure.

Our wings are not tired.

A world of lump~ma. Yes, we certainly do get lumpier with age. Mine are the sebaceous cyst variety. Very annoying.
