Sometimes I borrow David Milch's cuss words for my government, since he's no longer here to require them personally.(But, yes, our sick relations with your government are worth a thought or two, Shir) It would take a massive can of peaches to bring civilization back now.(That's a Deadwood, thing)
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

(First wave is over. I'm OK. Nilly's most probably OK too, I didn't hear anything about missiles hitting her area).
Good. Argh. I know you won't be able to reassure us as often as I we will want you to, I certainly appreciate it this time!
In lighter news - I picked up a "fresh berry salad" on my way into work to have for lunch and when I went to eat found it had neither dressing nor berries. Still an ok salad but not very satisfying. The berries were really the whole point of it.
Love and extra bubble wrap to you and Nilly, Shir. You are never far from my thoughts.
Timelies all!
Glad to hear from you, Shir.
Steph, I understand. I'm 57 and it keeps coming back. Irregularly, of course.
Mr. S will be home for an overnight visit. Last weekend went well, so I hope for a repeat.
Sending waves of calm~ma your way, Sheryl. And to the rest of us, while I am at it. Tomorrow may be a very unpleasant day.
Fingers crossed, Sheryl!
I thought I'd be able to leave work half an hour ago, but no. Not that I am exactly working, I am just checking periodically to see if this job is finished so someone else can do the next thing in the process...
You've got some good stuff in that poem, erika. The last four lines hit hard
Good to hear you're OK Shir, and good luck on moving. Fingers crossed Nilly stays safe.
It's morning-ish here (11am). There was a second siren at night, and I woke up from interceptions/explosions sounds around 5am from another area, but other than that the night was as quiet here as I could hope for. Central Israel was hit in several locations and unlike missiles from Yemen, they cause extensive damage. I have a standing offer from a friend to come to a safer location, but that means to leave the cat behind/take him and his equipment with me to a house that already has another cat and a dog in it. So I'm giving it another day to see where it goes before making any decision.
I have no hopes or expectation from my government, of course. "Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make" is kind of its motto, and doing things without thinking of long term consequences is its game. There were countless demonstrations against it every day but they were only stalling some actions, not preventing what's already going on or that have been done (I mean, there are protests, but there's now an emergency and leaving one's place to protest isn't recommended. On Thursday there were three just in the 5km radius from where I live).
tl;dr: I'm OK, I'll update here as much as I can, and I can't freaking believe we started another front in Iran.
