One of the nice things our Real Estate agent did for us as a New Homeowners Present was to buy us a small insurance policy that covered the breakdown of any appliance (A/C, Dishwasher, Dryer, Stove etc.) in the house for one year.

How unfortunate—I can see where that would put a person off. There’s all kinds of ways to garden, but fun-less shouldn’t be one of them.
My community garden may or may not be run by a tyrant, but she’s had family health crises (I get it—been there), so she’s been frequently absent. Every now and then we get an email saying the deer fence is going in any day now. (Yes, it’s mid-June. No, SE Michigan is not that far behind in the growing season. We needed it before the end of May. Oh well.) Or asking us to not use non-biodegradable weed barriers, which I agree with. They get covered by mulch, and then the next gardener is pulling handfuls of plastic out of the plot for ages.

The District court judge ruled for CA, and then the 9th Circuit immediately granted a stay. So the National Guard remains federalized for the moment.
The Federal building in Seattle is the subject of protests because there's an immigration court in it. But I have a bunch of coworkers there, and they had to leave the building with no notice the other day, and the front of the building is all graffitti'd up as well.
Things are getting pretty wild. I'm going to be very glad to be on vacation and not terminally online for a few weeks.

I went to bed with the District ruling and woke up to the Circuit ruling. At least I had a few hours where I thought something was normal.
The Israel/Iran situation can get very ugly very quickly.
The world has gone mad on so many fronts that it is hard to say which situation is more worrisome. Sen. Padilla's treatment is way up there. The lack of guardrails or rational GOP elected officials is making it so much worse than his last reign.
